You sat next to Hoffman as the celebration was being held. You watched the Chief walked up to the stand.

"I want to thank you all for coming here today. And I'd like to be the first to say that the Jigsaw murders are over." He started. You smiled, but you couldn't help but think back to what Fisk said about Strahm. Strahm said that there could be another accomplice. Beside the Chief was a table with pictures of fallen officers. Officers that have died during the Jigsaw case, including Rigg, Kerry, and Matthews.

"The officers who gave their lives are being honored here today. But today, I'd like to offer a special honor to the detective who's been on this case right from the beginning... who proved through hard work and dedication, that the people who died did not die in vain. Today, we honor the newly promoted Detective Lieutenant Mark Hoffman." The Chief said as Hoffman stood up from his chair. He looked back at you and you gave him a smile and two thumbs up. He walked up to the stand, receiving his plaque and looking towards the cameras to get his photo taken. As the Chief stepped aside to let Hoffman speak, you wondered what he was going to say.

"Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you very much." He started as the cameras kept flashing and the crowd kept clapping.

"Throughout this ordeal, if we've learned anything it's that... human life is sacred. And we've learned that, every day, life should be cherished. Justice... is the backbone to every peaceful society. And I believe that true justice has been served." He seemingly finished. The crowd started clapping once again. He looked over at you and you couldn't help but smile at him.

"However, I shouldn't be the only one who deserves the spotlight." He suddenly continued.

"Although this ceremony is to honor me and my fellow fallen comrades, there was another officer who stayed by my side. Recently, I was assigned a partner. An assistant detective. Though this case seemed like it ended right when she began working with us, she still deserves to have some of the spotlight. Please give a round of applause for my partner, Detective (Y/N) (L/N)." He finally ended. You were in shock. He looked over at you again and gestured you to come up to the stand with him. You stood up and slowly walked over to Hoffman. You didn't expect such praise from him. Hoffman shook you hand, seemingly meaning his approval of you. You felt like a deer in headlights as cameras started to shutter, capturing the moment.

When the ceremony was over, you walked with Hoffman, as he was going back to his office to store his plaque.

"You didn't need to mention me like that, Hoffman." You said.

"Why not? You've been doing such a good job. Besides, if you're going to be as good as me one day, you have to get used to it." He said.

"Well, yeah, but I wasn't even prepared for anything like that." You replied.

"You gotta expect the unexpected. Let's just say... that was your first test as a detective." He said. You shrugged. When he got to his office, you did a gentle wave goodbye as you went back to your office. Walking back, you couldn't help but think about the case. It felt like something was missing. You opened your office door and sat down, sighing. That's when you remembered that Strahm was at the hospital, mourning the loss of Perez. You debated on whether you should see him or not for a few minutes. You felt like you needed to talk to him. You not only wanted to comfort him, but you felt like he knew something that you didn't know.

"He's a Special Agent. He has to know something more about the case." You said to yourself. You stood up and decided you needed to see Strahm. Closing the door behind you, you left the station and walked down to the Hospital, where you were able to see Strahm. However, approaching the door of the room, you heard not only Strahm's voice, but Hoffman's voice as well.
