Mattéo Maes: Mattéo would continue on slowly after Josephine's death, remaining out of the spotlight, tending to his horses, wild rabbits, and other critters. After a political incident in 2021 (more on that later) he got back into politics, though he quickly lost steam. He returned to the ranch in 2024 and lived out his days in solitude, never moving on from Josey's death. Some days he would be found crying with pictures of the two of them, saying that: "He should've died first, it is the man who dies first...". His health began to decline in the late 2020s/ early 2030s.
Mattéo Maes died of a heart attack on February 5, 2033, at the age of 81.
(1952-2033)
John Charles: John Charles continued his reign after his mother's death, though it would be tragically cut short in June of 2021 when he himself had a sudden fatal heart attack. This likely came from the heart condition his father had, and one that would snatch him away over a decade later. His wife, Hannah would blame many members of the court, before his sister took the throne shortly after.
John Charles was only 24 when he died.
(1997-2021)
Josephine Junior: When Josephine Junior was informed of her brother's death, she and Fabien scrambled to the Imperial Palace. There she was crowned Empress Josephine the Second because John Charles' children were only five months old at the time. Josephine reigned with a fair and even hand for many, many years and the Empire remained peaceful for the first time since its conception in 1787. Fabien would die at the ripe old age of 75, in 2055 which affected Josephine profoundly. But Junior would always state that she was incredibly proud of her name, being named after one of the best rulers in American history.
Josephine herself would continue to reign until she finally passed away in her sleep, aged 87, in 2067. After her death, she was admitted to the Great Hall of Leaders, like her mother.
(1980-2067)
Lord Maxwell: Lord Maxwell continued to serve both Emperor John Charles V and Empress Josephine II until his death in 2031, aged 76.
(1955-2031)
Victoria: Following the ascension of her half-sister to the throne in 2021, Victoria helped to assist for a small time before returning to Persia to assist Bahman with the business of ruling. Her life remained quiet until 2028 when Bahman grew sick with a mysterious illness. He had no children of his own, at least no legitimate children. He named Victoria, his mother, his heir, much to the shock of the Persian court. Bahman died in early 2029, and she became the Shahbanu of Persia. There was much initial resistance from the court, but not from the Persian people, who rallied behind her newfound throne.
The nobles rebelled and established the Khorasanian Empire. Between 2029 and 2030 a civil war was fought to secure Victoria's throne and once the nobles were defeated, Victoria became the undisputed master of the Persian realm. She ruled with a steady and fair hand, maintaining its vast territories at the behest of Russia and India. She established many reforms, built a strong national defense force, and became truly adored by the Persian people.
But Victoria wasn't young, and it was known that one day she would die. She chose her daughter Iryana to become the next sovereign upon her death and changed the historic Persian Succession Law to allow this. But Victoria continued to reign and led Persia into an era of peace. As time wore on, Victoria entered a state of cognitive decline, slow but alarming when she was 89, in 2059.
But she held out, as tough and resilient as always and relied on her children to carry out whatever legislation she managed to hammer out as she slowly drifted away from her mind. By her 94th birthday, she was bedridden. On November 17, 2066, she was dying and she herself knew it. She said her goodbyes and stated that she couldn't wait to reunite with Josephine, her mother, and the woman who saved her, who had died exactly 46 years earlier.
Victoria died an hour later.
(1970-2066)
Lily Louise: Lily would rule as her son Eire's regent until 2024 when he turned eighteen. She would return to America to aid Junior and would spend the rest of her winters in Ireland. She would remarry in 2028 to a Welsh baron. Though she wouldn't have any more children, she lived the rest of her life in peaceful mediocrity, before passing away at the age of 86.
(1983-2069)
Sophia: Sophie would also remarry in 2022 to the great-grandson of Anastasia Romanov, who had been exiled following the Red victory in the civil war. In 2024, the Soviet regime fell, and the Russian Republic was restored. Sophie would serve as a major part of its foundation and her husband served as premier from 2029-2037, a century after Anastasia became premier. Sophie and her husband retired from politics in 2046. Finally, Sophie would slip away and die from natural causes in Moscow in 2064, when she was 78.
(1986-2064)
America: A succession crisis soon followed as all three of John Charles's eldest children, John Charles VI, Anna, and Harrison vied for the throne, beginning a long and bloody civil war, that would see the First American Empire fall into disarray and civil war.
Harrison died in 2073.
During a vicious battle at Syracuse, when facing the prospect of killing their sibling, the two refused and put their quarrel to rest. Just like always, America prevailed through one of its worst crises' yet. The two ruled harmoniously as co-sovereigns until Anna's death in 2107 at age 87. John Charles took the throne in full before he died four years later.
But the Empire lived on. Its stable leadership, vast, indestructible military, much of which was inspired by Josephine's successes helped it to outlive many other nations on Earth. Many centuries passed, with America soon uniting the Americas under its rule and becoming rich beyond compare.
Soon, American monarchs would be the hegemons of the entire world...
