"COME HERE YOU FAT SKANK!!"
I run. I just run. I don't know where I'm running to but I'm running. I have my escape backpack and credit card so I'm fine. The screaming is getting fainter. I need a break. My legs are about to give out. I find myself in the heart of LA. I walk around just pretending to be a tourist. My bet is that my parents have called the police by now. They always do. They clean up real quick to make it look like a perfect home and then call in a complaint of a runaway kid. I have bruises and cuts all over my body from my drunk or sober abusive parents. I text my best friend and tell her what happened and that I may not be back. I just keep walking mindlessly when I run into someone.
"Oh my god! Im so sorry I'm such a klutz." I quickly say and look at the poor person I just bowl dozed. My jaw goes to the floor. It's Demi flipping Lovato.
"It's ok. Im fine, you barely touched me." She looks at me. My eyes are red and puffy from crying, I'm bruised and cut all over, I have some bracelets on to cover my scars.
"Are you ok?" She snapped me out of my thoughts
"Yeah. I just ran into you. I run into someone almost everyday."
"No, I mean other than that. It looks like you've been crying and you have what looks like a runaway backpack."
I was shocked. She knew what a runaway backpack was.
"How do you know this is a runaway backpack?"
"It's all wrinkly and it looks like it hasn't seen daylight in a while. I also had a runaway backpack when I was a teen. In case I needed a quick getaway."
I was stunned. Demi has had a runaway backpack before.
Demi looked down at my wrists. My bracelets had moved so my cuts were visible. I quickly put them back in place.
"I never got your name. You know mine, but I don't know yours."
"Im Alisha."
"How old are you?"
"15"
"So do you have a place to crash tonight?"
I just looked at her. I hadn't noticed, but the sun was setting.
"No... I didn't even notice the sun was setting until now."
"My house is just a few blocks down the road. I have plenty of room if you wanna crash there." She pointed down the road opposite of where my house was. I was relieved.
"Uhm. Sure. Why not. Better than sleeping on the road or paying for a hotel."
