Chapter 15

The plane ride seemed endless, with no escape in sight. It was impossible to hope when you couldn't see the end.

Sam tried his best to sleep, he knew needed energy for the upcoming fight. But he couldn't relax.

They drew gallon after gallon of blood from Natalie, only to pump more back in.

Scientists came in every hour. Sometimes more.

Natalie almost looked more relaxed than him. She kept her eyes shut as tight as she could. Everytime a shadow passed over her she flinched. But she made no noise, no screams. There were barely even whimpers. Nothing but pure submission.

Sam took in another shuddering breath as a needle was stuck deep into Natalie's left leg.

She shook a little, and squeezed her eyes tighter.

Sam had his bag pulled out, ready to help. The second they landed he was going to get Natalie out of here. For every needle wound they made, he pulled out another bandage.

After watching them pump out blood for the hundredth time, Sam was a little more than a bit curious. They must've found the perfect ratio of blood in to blood out. Natalie was'nt showing many signs of blood loss, and they'd drawn so much. She was hooked up to blood bags, similar to what many hospitals were equipped with. At first he was angry that they used up valuable blood donations in their cruel experiments, but now he was glad she was being fed more blood. It was no doubt keeping her alive.

He'd found the best spot in the room to sit was on the light just above Natalie's head. He knew she couldn't see him, but he still felt like he needed to be close. Natalie eventually fell into a light sleep, but Sam had little luck resting.

He checked his watch frequently, trying to distract himself. Time crawled slower than he had ever imagined. He didn't know where they were headed, but his stopwatch passed the ten hour mark, then the eleventh, then the twelfth- and then at the fourteen hour mark, the door was roughly pulled open.

Natalie shut her eyes tighter, assuming that it was just more scientists. But Sam looked over at Lilith, eyes wide.

She was flanked by two guards, but Zemo was nowhere to be seen.

Lilith approached Natalie, boots echoing.

Natalie recognized the sound just in time, and opened her eyes a second too late.

Lilith grabbed her by the neck, and Natalie let out a cry of pain.

"Be quiet." Lilith growled. Pulling a key out of her pocket.

Natalie nodded, gasping for air through Lilith's grip.

Lilith finished unlocking all the cuffs, and efficiently tied Natalie's hands together with a length of rope.

Natalie was pushed off to the two guards. But before they could grab her she fell onto the floor with a crash. Her legs felt like jelly, and her head was spinning. Before she could process being on the floor she was kicked hard in the stomach by someone, and grabbed by her hair.

She grimaced, and whimpered a little.

Sam watched, horrified, as Natalie was dragged off. Before he could make a move to follow, the plane landed with a sudden jolt. Throwing him off his feet.

He fell off the light, and landed on the metal table with a small thud. Thankfully no one heard the crash, but his head was spinning like crazy. Scott told him his small size would give him more durability, but his back still ached from where he landed on it. As soon as he regained his senses he noticed the smell of sweat practically engraved into the metal. He pushed it off, and himself off the ground. Hurriedly he shoved everything into his bag, double-checking to make sure Cookie was still in there. Looking up he saw Natalie being dragged off by her hair. His eyes flashed with anger under his goggles. Then he spread his wings, and chased after his kid.
