Chapter 1
Seven months later
The Avenger's new base, well, new for some of them, was located in the center of Manhattan. After the previous home for the chaotic super family was destroyed, the top five floors of the Stark Tower were converted. The first floor belonging to the team was nearly all state of the art apartments, but also included a miniature movie theater. The second was a large training gym, including a swimming pool, boxing ring, aerial obstacle course, and training simulator. The third was a huge lab, most of it dusty sense Tony Stark's death. The fourth was the last of the apartments, plus an instructable room, designed for the more unstable Avengers to have a place to let out their anger. The final floor was a massive common area filled with couches and the occasional gaming console. Plus a kitchen and dining room with all the supplies to make nearly anything, but they mostly made sandwiches. At the kitchen table, early in the morning during April, Bucky Barnes was peacefully sitting with the team's white cat, Alpine, that he had scooped up a few months back, and eating Lucky Charms.
"JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES, WHERE ON EARTH IS REDWING'S CHARGER. WE HAVE TO LEAVE IN THIRTY MINUTES!" Bucky's friend Sam interrupted, angrily gesturing towards his little bird-shaped robot companion, Redwing, that was low on charge.
Bucky looked up from his phone, cereal spoon halfway to his mouth. Alpine glared at Sam and got up from the table. "Thirty minutes?"
"Yes thirty minutes! Wanda and Scott are almost here. Now get your butt off that chair and tell me where Redwing's charger is."
"What makes you think I have it?" Bucky smirked.
"Bucky, look, I'm sorry for putting magnets on your arm, and we both know you took it. Can you please help me right now? We're gonna want Redwing's camera."
Bucky stood up, put his cereal bowl in the sink, walked over to the living room's brick wall, took out a brick, pulled out the charger, and handed it to Sam.
Sam let out a long sigh, "I sometimes wish you weren't so good at hiding things. Now grab your stuff, it's time to take out another infuriating Hydra base. See you in the meeting room in ten?"
"See you in 10."
Sam had Redwing hooked up to a portable charger, the shield so iconic to Captain America was strapped in between his mechanical wings. Running down the hallway, his boots echoing on the floor, he spread into the boring, gray-walled meeting room.
"Hi Sam!" Scott Lang said, he was wearing his Ant-man suit and sitting in one of the formal chairs that surrounded the table, "Doesn't the meeting start at eight? I arrived at 7:45 and I'm the only other person here still."
Sam laughed, "I'm typically the first one here. Bucky will be here in a couple seconds, all decked out with every kind of gun imaginable. Wanda'll arrive just in time, she's cutting it pretty close, she's at the Starbucks downstairs in the employee cafeteria right now. She texted me asking if anyone wanted anything."
"Oh no I'm good, any more energy and I'll probably explode." He replied, drumming his fingers on the smooth tabletop.
Then Bucky walked in, his hair up in a ponytail, dressed head to toe in black, with about seven visible guns and close to a dozen knives strapped to his suit.
After a few seconds of silence Scott said "Dang, you look scary dude."
"Thanks." Bucky replied in a monotone voice, then sat down next to Sam.
