Chapter 2

"That's really weird, but we gotta keep moving. I've got you patched up as best I can Wanda." Sam said.

But before they could move Scott asked through the intercom, "Guys? Where are you? There's some big scorch marks here and I don't see you."

"Keep going forward, we took a break in a supply closet to bandage up Wanda."

"Got it."

After a few seconds of waiting Scott knocked on the door, causing them to all jump.

"You guys in here?"

"Yeah Scott, we're coming out."

They all shuffled out of the closet and Sam took his robot back from Scott's hands.

"There better not be a scratch on here." He said, looking it over.

Scott looked nervously at him, and when he seemed satisfied with his robot they flew it off in front of them to act as a pair of eyes.

Wanda held the stuffed gray rabbit in one hand, and the other arm was gripping Sam as she limped along. The rabbit was cute, and she felt bad leaving it by itself, but it felt so wrong to see something like a soft toy here, so wrong that she went with her gut and took it, in case it might be important.

Sam had Redwing's camera feed displaying in his goggles, so when Redwing flew into a huge open area in the center of the base he pulled the robot back and warned the team what was around the next corner.

Bucky went into planning mode, "So you said what you saw looked like some kind of lab? Where there scientists? Guards? There's gotta be some kind of armed force in there, we haven't bumped into many guards yet. What kind of lab?"

Sam was holding his little robot under one arm "It was... I don't know. There was this huge space covered with tables and there were these huge machines. It had a lot of scientists around it and all the cords for the big machine led back to this one room with a huge door, it was metal and had layers of locks on it. We gotta go in there and blow it up or something, and maybe grab the records from the huge computer I saw. But Wanda can't really help." He said, gesturing to Wanda's leg.

"It's fine" she groaned, "I'll just use my magic from here."

"Ok, Scott, can you go tiny and get all the data off the computer?"

"Easy peasy."

"Bucky, hand me a couple of your grenades."

"Here."

"Right, I've got the most cover with the shield and the wings so I'll blow up the generator. We can take these guys, ready?"

Wanda nodded, "Yeah let's get outta here."

Sam burst around the corner, throwing the first grenade at the huge metal door.

Scott shrank down. Bucky followed Sam. Wanda shot red energy at the guards.

Watching for an opening Sam pressed forward through the first line of attackers using his wings to protect himself from the bullets. With a deafening boom the grenade detonated, blowing back the scientists. The door was open.

Wanda was holding back bullets as Scott hurriedly downloaded files. The scientists were trying to collect their data and run but were immediately stopped by Bucky.

Sam saw his chance and darted into the small room.

Rushing through the rubble of the door Sam was hit with an overwhelming scent of cleaning supplies. One of Bucky's grenades was gripped tightly in his hand, ready to blow up what he assumed was a generator. When he saw what was actually powering the operations his grip released and the explosive clattered to the floor.
