Who Would've Known?

There was a knock at my door. "Heaven, Ma didn't come home lastnight and I'm worried." Simone cried. "MeMe, it's 5am. She'll be here soon. Leave me alone. Go back to sleep or something.", I said not even opening my eyes. I felt an arm wrap around me and I realized Kevin was still here.

"You know, Heaven, we make the power couple.", Kevin said as I opened my eyes. "Boy you go back to sleep too. It's too early for all that. "I'm finna go check on moma I'll come back in an hour if that's okay with you?", Kevin said putting on his flops. "Whatever, I'm sleep." I rolled over and faced the wall. I could feel Kevin looking at me but I was too tired to blush.

(An Hour Later 6:07am)

The doorbell was ringing and I knew it was Kevin. I got up and opened the door. He smiled and followed me back to my room. I checked in on Simone but Kevin kept going. I opened her door and she was looking out the window. "MeMe, she'll be here. Okay?", I said reassuring her. I closed her door and walked to mine.

Kevin was laying in my bed almost sleep. I laid down and checked my phone.

Future Bae 😍😘: Gm ugly. I love u.

I didn't even reply. Just as I put my phone down, it buzzed.

Andrea👌: Are u up?
Me: Yea Wassup.?
Andrea👌: After I txted u lastnyte, I went to the party. When I walkd in Jazmine was there. She was laughing and talking with Esha and Tasha. So I left, I didn't wana have nothin to do wit them.
Me: Say What Now.? So Jazmine Rolling With The Enemy.? I Guess She Ain't Who She Say She Is. Thanks For That Info BabyGirl.
Andrea👌: No problem. Oh and that fight was planned.
Me: Huh? How You Know.?
Andrea👌: Well, this ain't something I'm proud to admit. But Teyana my cousin and she live with me and my moma. I overheard her and Jazmine convo this morning.

I let that last message sink in. "Puma, lay down with me. Let's cuddle." Kevin said wrapping his arms around my waist. I was about to text Drea back but Kevin took my phone. "You wanted me to come over so now it's my time. No phone, no tv or no sleep.", Kevin demanded. I blushed really hard and playfully punched him.

"When you went home, how was everything?", I asked cautiously. "Well... um... she was.. um." Kevin seemed really sad now. "Kevin is everything okay.? But if you don't wanna talk about it, I understand." "Okay, let me be honest. My moma not home. She's in the nursing home where you work. That's how I knew you were gonna be there after school yesterday.", Kevin started to sit up.

I was speechless. When we get patients with cancer or HIV, it's because they're in their last days. "Heaven, let's not talk about it though. What you wanna do today?", Kevin asked changing the subject.

"I wanna lay low til about 4pm. Did you forget it's only 6:30am? I slick wanna go back to sleep.", I said laughing. "Heaven, why haven't you ever given me a chance?", he asked. "Because you are more like my bestfriend.", I responded. "A bestfriend? I wanna be more than that.", Kevin said. "You are. You're my bestfriend, brother, diary and um.. my cuddle buddy.", I said smirking. Kevin pulled me closer to him and soon we went back to sleep.
