When Duncan met his lady Jenny he fell deeply in love,he broke his engagement with lady of house Baratheon and ran away with lady Jenny. This marriage caused House Baratheon to rebel which was quickly abolished by his father the king but, he was given an choice he would be the next king of Westeros or give up his title to his brother and stay married to lady Jenny.
So the choice was made, there no longer was crown prince Duncan, there was a man who gave up his crown for his love, Love that would bloom and be the salvation of the seven kingdoms with its offsprings.
Still after his choice lords of Westeros thought that this marriage would not last even for a year, all of their hopes were shattered when the news of a new prince was brought to Kings landing. His name Prince Maximilian Targaryen of Summerhall.
