"Do you know why she left?"
"She said she was looking for something. An answer of the kind," he admitted and I looked up at him as if the words had to be better. As the answer to what my question had been so long was that she was going to be on some great quest, "something which would help her get back to you. She was told something when you were born by someone. She didn't say who, but she said what she'd been told was so horrible that she had to find out the truth."
"The truth about what?"
He hesitated, which was not a good sign on my part, "I don't know." I had a feeling he did but not wanting to push my luck yet I changed the topic.
"Do you know where she is now?"
"No. I've not seen her since the fire."
"Okay. Now, the keys to every cell are in a password-protected lock-box in my father's office. The problem is getting past the front desk," Stiles explained. Derek and I were sat in his jeep behind him and waiting to find out what the plan was to get Isaac out of jail (this did mean he was going to be a criminal for a little while).
"I'll distract her," Derek said before he made a move to get out of the car and I went to follow but Stiles reached out grabbing onto Derek's jacket.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You? You're not going in there," he cut in and Derek glared at Stiles's hand, "I'm taking my hand off..."
"I was exonerated," Derek reminded.
"You're still a person of interest."
"An innocent person."
"An-" Stiles scoffed not believing it for a single second and I hated to be that person but I couldn't help but agree with him, "you? yeah, right!" Derek only began to glare again and I simply winced before sitting back in my seat. I had a feeling we were going to be here for a little while before anyone tried to do anything. "Okay, fine. What's your plan?"
"To distract her."
"Uh-huh. How? By punching her in the face?" He pushed his lips up and mimed punching someone in the face and my own lips tugged into a grimace from the second-hand embarrassment I was currently feeling, "ungh!"
"Heh. By talking to her."
"I personally think we should go for that," I cut in, just wanting to get going.
"Okay. All right. Give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?" Derek didn't respond, "Dead silence. That should work beautifully. Any other ideas?"
Derek thought about it for a moment before nodding his head to the side, "I'm thinking about punching you in the face..."
Both me and Stiles hovered at the door as Derek walked forward to get to the front desk. He waited with a smile (it felt weird to see him wearing a smile. Like he was about to commit mass murder and be giddy about it) as the lady turned around, "good evening, how can I help...you?"
"Hi," Derek greeted his voice light and airy and I couldn't help but grimace whilst Stiles rolled his eyes already knowing where Derek was going to go with this. Surely this woman could hold her own resolve and wouldn't fall prey to his manipulative charms?
"Hi..."
"Um, I had a question...Um, sorry, I'm a little-a little thrown. I wasn't really expecting someone-" not being able to listen to any more of the cringe, I grabbed onto Stiles's arm and began to pull him with me to get across to the other side.
