"I can't get a hold of Derek or Scott. How's Lydia?" Isaac asked, walking back over to me, Argent, and Allison. We hadn't made it to the school in time. I was sat in the back seat of the car leaning my head back against the door. I was so tired. I could feel my body growing cold and aching from the tiredness and it wasn't a very pleasant feeling.
"She's got bruising on her neck. They're taking her to a hospital downtown because Beacon Memorial is being evacuated," Allison explained and Isaac looked to her in shock.
"The storm's that bad?"
"It will be. And I overheard an EMT saying the back-up generators might be too old to last if the power goes out," Allison admitted, and Isaac frowned as he thought over it.
"Beacon Memorial... That's where Cora is, right?"
"I'm taking the three of you home."
"No, I have to get to the hospital. I can't leave Cora there with just Peter," Isaac urged.
"I'll come with you," I added on, standing to my feet.
"No, you should go home," Isaac countered but I shook my head.
"I'm coming with you," I repeated, "non-negotiable. We're a pack."
Isaac thought about it for a second before he nodded, "fine, come on," he held out his hand and I took it about to follow him when Argent called out.
"Wait," he said, and we both glanced back at him waiting to hear the speech. The speech on how we were just kids and we should stay home so that we can't get in any more danger. Except, what he said was nothing like that. "I'll drive."
As we got there, we all looked around to see an empty car park. "Looks like the evacuation's over," Argent said, and the car came to a stop.
We all climbed out and whilst Allison and Isaac were looking around and Isaac was trying to catch a scent, I looked up to see a familiar figure walking with Scott's mother on the roof. Stepping closer to the roof, I broke apart from the group. Anger was filling me. I had so many things to say. A thousand words. No, it's closer to a million. Of course it was him. It was always him. I don't even know why I'm surprised that he's there.
"Are you catching a scent?" Allison asked.
"No, not with the rain this heavy."
"I'll meet you later," I announced walking closer to the hospital my eyes still on the roof.
"Florence what?" Isaac began, and I could hear him approaching, "what are you doing?"
"I'm going to have some bonding time."
"Wait what?!" Allison called out, but I'd already disappeared before they could protest further.
Appearing on the top of the roof, I brought my hand up to protect my eyes from the rain but they did very little. With my free hand, I grabbed onto my jacket and brought it around my body closer in order to keep myself protected by the storm but like with my hand that did very little.
I soon spotted the person that I wanted although I was already regretting it as I walked closer to them. He was with someone else, Scott's mother.
"Thank you. That was more than helpful."
"What now? What do you want with me?" Melissa asked, and Deucalion looked at her as if the thought was humorous.
"You? You're my gesture of goodwill."
