I've always hated rumours.

People gossiping about someone else's life, telling distorted stories and false tales. The whispering of their appropriation of my own life and its course. Knowing I can never go unnoticed no matter what, knowing I'm the most exciting thing that has happened in their sad lives so far. I run from mouth to mouth, losing an arm and gaining a tail every time they tell me.

At some point, the rumours are no longer new, but they don't avoid looks. Give it time and it will die, but time has barely passed. I can pick up every word easily.

"With the new girl. Can you believe it?"

"I can't believe he left Vanessa for this"

"What happened to Vanessa?"

"That chick from Wales?"

"Can't believe I liked him. He's such a playboy"

So many different ways of talking about the same thing.

Vanessa loved the spotlight, but right now, I can only imagine how much she must hate me. We were king and queen of this school since the day we first arrived, she was the one every girl hated and wanted to be. Now the gossip isn't good for her.

"Do these people never shut up?" Kenzie complained, shutting her locker a little too hard "Don't they have their own lives?"

"Theirs are boring" Emily answered, trying to push Ezra away.

I smiled at the view of them, at the forceful hug Ezra was keeping her in despite her attempts of running away. Boyfriend and girlfriend. Can't believe she said yes. They're polar opposites and somehow they seem to fit so well with each other.

"That's why they need us" I took Kenzie's bag from her hands "We're their sitcom"

"I'm nobody's fucking sitcom" she complained, pulling her bag from me "And I can take my own stuff, thank you very much"

I smiled "I know, I'm just being nice. You better take it, it won't last forever with that attitude"

She showed me her tongue and I kissed her. I burst out laughing once she pushed me away and threw her bag at me.

"You two are adorable," said Ezra "Why can't we be like them, Emily?"

"Because you're fucking annoying"

She managed to get away from him and grabbed Kenzie's arm, pushing her far away from both of us.

"This was amazing, boys, it really was," she said "But we have places to be"

"Aren't you coming to the competition?" I asked.

Kenzie grabbed her bag back "I'll take my bad behaviour"

"And I, my inappropriate comments" Emily added "See you later, boys"

We watched them stroll away through the crowded corridors, arm in arm. Those two give me a fucking headache when they're together.

"Well, let's go change"

I nodded and followed him to the locker rooms where the rest of the team was. They were yelling at each other inside the small space.

We pushed our way through to our lockers and changed quickly, trying to avoid the pure chaos that was rising every second.

Fuck! I can't find my speech anywhere!

I don't even know why am I surprised.

I sighed and jumped to the bench, getting everyone's attention on me. The noise died out slowly.
