I think I slept for about four hours. It was a good night. I rarely get over two. It's not like I'm up all night playing video games. I just can't fall asleep.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I dabbed the dark circles under my eyes and flinched in pain. This is what I get for an entire restless week.
Downstairs, my siblings were fighting over a chocolate chip cookie and I stopped them as I walked in.
"But, Will!" Sadie complained as Nate ate the cookie.
"There's more on the plate."
"But I grabbed it first!" She lamented, but resigned herself to take another cookie out of the plate.
I sat down and poured coffee on my mug, hoping the caffeine would wake me up. My will to go to school is down to -23.
The maid, Maria, was nowhere to be seen. I need to have talk to her about leaving them alone.
"I don't want to go to school today." Nate declared as he leaned against the back of the chair, arms crossed in front of his chest.
Here we go again. It's always the same every fucking day.
"Me neither." Sadie joined in, imitating his position.
I can't deal with this again. "Fine, don't go. I don't care."
They looked at each other to see if they heard it correctly and I got up, grabbing my bag and getting out of the house with them following me.
"You're saying that we can, like, skip?" she asked.
"And you're not doing anything about it? You're not even telling mum and dad?" he pressed.
When we reached outside, I opened the door of the car and grabbed both of them by the back of their shirts and forced them inside the car.
"Tell what?" I closed the door, told the driver to go get their bags and took my sit on the passenger seat. "Did you think you were skipping?"
"Fuck you!" He said.
"Ah! Language!"
He rolled his eyes and both of them looked annoyed at me the whole time. A small price to pay to get them to school.
When we got there, Nate closed the door and stormed off to class, leaving me alone with Sadie.
"Someone got their pants in a twist." She joked and then gave me a quick hug. "Bye, Will."
I stayed at the entrance, looking at the clear sky and waiting for Ezra to show up.
Someone driving way too fast parked right in front of me, giving me a heart attack and almost running me over. Either way, trying to put me in a hospital.
When the driver got out with a stupid smirk, I was close to throwing my literature book at his head. Fucking idiot.
"Oi, William, get out of the way."
"You're asking for it, Peter." I threatened.
Before we could discuss it further, the passenger door opened, and she got out in all her splendour and beauty.
"Come on, boys, we wouldn't want to start the day with a fight in the parking lot, would we?" Vanessa asked. I find it incredible how her voice is so melodic at all times.
"Yes." Peter answered at the same time I said. "No."
"Right. " She laughed and started going inside the building, but I followed her.
You'd think such a small girl on such huge heels would walk slowly, but I had to speed up to be walking beside her.
"I'll carry your books." I offered and tried to take them off her arms, but she refused.
