Crimson hugged her slim figure, tight in the waist and leaving space to wonder everywhere else. A smile tugged on my lips as I saw her walking towards me, a clicking sound coming from under her long dress announcing her presence.

I get up clumsily, pushing the chair for her to sit. She giggles at that and I blush.

"Thank you," she says and takes the seat I got for her, "but I think you didn't need to do that again"

"Let me be a gentleman, Kenzie," I roll my eyes at her, taking my seat opposite hers once again.

She shook her hand "You don't need to get up every time I leave the table. Imagine if I had a stomachache!"

"Then I'd get up a thousand times"

She laughs, probably thinking how much of an idiot I am for saying this stuff, but I'm okay with it. I am an idiot, an idiot in love.

"Did you order a dessert?" she asks.

I nod "Strawberry cake, the one you were eyeing"

"I was actually looking at the Banana Split but okay"

I stare at her "There is no Banana Split in the menu"

"No?" she looks around the room, trying to spot the waiter "Maybe I was just thinking about it"

Kenzie had been reluctant in having an actual date at a fancy restaurant. I understand since she was disinherited she's been living of Beatrice's expenses and she doesn't want to spend her money, but I made it clear that I was paying so it became annoying.

She's working really hard on the rehabilitation of Coldwell Mannor and barely has time for us to be alone. She's trying to make a new life for herself and I try to support her as much as I can, popping on to help any time.

Now, I'm going to university and she's taking a year off school to work on her project and I'm afraid this summer is all we have before our adult life. The possibility of the end of what we have scares me, after all, it wouldn't be the first time distance ruins what we have. I need this summer to be the best summer of both of our lives so I know that, no matter what.

"Do you speak french?" I ask when the waiter finally leaves the desserts on our table.

She furrows her brows "Yeah, why?"

I smile but don't say anything, at least not yet.

"If you want me as your translator to hit on uni girls once you see me miles away, you can forget it"

"Of course not. All the girls in uni will know I'm taken and am very much unapproachable"

Her laugh is the most beautiful sound to ever resonate in my eardrums. I could sit and listen to it for hours.

"Besides" I add, between bites "I'm afraid of Emily and what she might do if I step off the line"

"She watches a lot of crime documentaries," she says "But I want to believe you'd be loyal regardless of my sister"

"Always" I kiss the back of her hand "I'd rather die than let you down. You're the love of my life"

Kenzie look down, cheeks flustered. It was easy to make her blush with the tiniest compliment, she isn't used to hearing any. I ought to change that.

After dessert, I pay the bill and lead her out of the restaurant despite her complaints.

"I was enjoying our alone time!" she argues "Are you so desperate to get in my pants?"

"Dress" I correct absentmindedly as we cross the glass doors "And no, that's not at all what we're going to do"

I take her back to my car and open the door for her to get in. Shooting me a glare, she sits on the passenger seat. She looks so beautiful when mad.

"Then what is the rush?"

"We have a schedule to fulfil"

She lookespuzzled.

"How much do you trust my driving?" I smirk at her.

"Why?"

I start the car "Because I'm kidnapping you"

She stops halfway through putting on her seat belt and blinks. I can't contain the laughter. It is usually she the one who knows everything and I'm the oblivious one but this time I managed to surprise her and there's no greater victory.

"Remember Emily talking to me when you arrived when I came to pick you up?"

"Well, yeah"

"She was bringing me your luggage. Guess who's going on a trip to Paris?"

She is in shock for a while and I fear I have angered her. It is quite possible I've fucked up really really bad.

"Paris?" she repeated "We're going to Paris!?"

I'm relieved by her excited tone.

"Exactly, Kenz" I smile "Are you ready to go on a car trip to the city of love?"

"Yess!" she exclaims as if I was asking stupid questions.

I'm so happy she liked the idea. I was afraid for a moment.

"Then your french better not fail us" I joke "How do you say I love you?"

She stares at me and smiles.

"Je t'aime"

I pecked her lips and looked into her beautiful honey eyes turn darker in the dim light of the night.

"Kenzie, je t'aime"
