I wake up heavily breathing and tears streaming down my face. Not again. Another nightmare. Ever since Chuck's passing I haven't been able to sleep without having a nightmare about him. He blames me, he says that I'm the reason he died and I believe him. I sigh and get out of bed, careful not to wake Minho.
I sit in front of the door, with my head resting on my knees, I start sobbing into my knees. I miss him, I miss all of them.
"Malia?" I snap my head up to the voice I heard. Thomas. He must of already been awake as it looked like he just came out of the bathroom. "What's wrong?" He asks as he takes a seat next to me. "Nothing." I say not wanting to bother him. "Malia.." he warns "Tell me, what's wrong. You know you can tell me anything." He says and it's true I know I can tell Thomas anything, I trust him.
I sigh deeply before answering. "I've been having nightmares of Chuck." I say staring at the floor while my tears fall down my face. "He blames me, says it was-" I clear my throats before continuing "my fault."
"Nightmares Malia. That's all they are. Nightmares. You know that Chuck would never blame you and no one does, so you shouldn't either. It's not your fault Malia. If anything it's mine, I should have gotten that bullet not Chuck." He says and I look at him and shake my head. "Don't say that, you didn't deserve that either." I say and he gives me a weak smile.
I go to hug him tightly. "Thank you Thomas. Thank you for everything, you saved us." I say honestly. I could feel him smile into my shoulder. We pulled away as I wiped my eyes. "Chuck would be proud of you" he says and a massive smile appears on my face. "He would be proud of you too" I say back. I knew Thomas loved him as much as I did. He lost him too. Thomas smiled back.
"So why were you up then? Shouldn't you be sleeping?" I scold him. He chuckles and goes to respond before a vent gets ripped off the wall and a boys head pops out from under the bed.
"Follow me," was all he said as he turned around and went back through the vents. Hello to you too. I recognised the boy it was the one from the cafeteria with his hood up. I went to get up to go follow him before Thomas grabbed my arm. "Let me go, you stay here." He said. "No I'm coming with you." I say and he huffs in annoyance. "Fine, but stay behind me" he says protectively. I nod at him as he goes first.
"Minho will kill me if he finds out" Thomas whispers. "Well we better be quick then" I say back.
We caught up with the boy as Thomas spoke. "Hey, wait a second. Where the hell are we going?" He stopped moving, making me bump into him. "Just come on, we're going to miss it." Is all he says before crawling away.
We follow him until we reach a vent that shows a corridor. The space is a lot bigger so we are able to be aside each other. I was wedged in between the two boys as we all looked through the vent.
"What are we doing?" Thomas questions.
The boy shushed him which made me giggle. Thomas glared at me before looking back through the vents, we heard the noise of heels clicking.
I saw the doctor, the same one who looked after me. She looked behind her as if to see if anyone was following her. There was something being wheeled into a room. It looked like bodies? No it can't be. There was more than one being wheeled into the room before the door shut.
"What the hell was that?" Thomas asked.
"They bring in new ones every night like clockwork." The boy responded while looking up to me and Thomas.
"Do you know what they do with them?" I question.
"I don't know" he sighed. "This is as far as I've ever gotten. The vents don't even go through that section. But once they go through that door, they don't come back out. I don't think anybody actually leaves this place. Come on, we gotta go before somebody notices we're gone." He says before going to crawl back.
"Wait, why'd you show us this?" Thomas asked looking at the boy.
The boy stopped and turned around to face us again. "Because maybe the others will listen to you. There's something weird going on here. And I know you both think so too." He said before turning back to crawl away again.
"Hey wait, what's your name?" I asked making him stop again and turning to look at us.
"Aris" he answered before he crawled away. Thomas and I looked at each other before making our way back towards our room. "Do you believe him?" Thomas asked from behind me. "Yeah, I've always thought this place was weird, I mean let's start with them locking us in our rooms, why would they do that? Unless they didn't want us to see what they were doing." I say.
"Do you believe him?" I then ask. "Yeah, I've always thought this place was weird too." He says to me. I nod in agreement as we make our way back.
We get back and I crawl out of the vent. The lights were on. Uh oh. I stand up to see the boys all up with tired faces. Oops. Minho must of realised I was gone and woke everyone else up. "Where the hell were you?" Minho grabs my arm pulling me into him. "You scared the shit out of me. What were you's too doing?" He says eyeing Thomas.
"We may have found something, bodies. Im not sure but we saw people taking bodies into a room and once they get put in that room they never leave." Thomas spoke and looked at me. I nodded at him telling everyone that I saw the same thing.
"What are you guys talking about?" Newt said tiredly.
"Okay I know we sound crazy but that's what we saw." I say. "Okay we'll just talk about this in the morning. I'm too tired to talk about this." Newt responded, I sighed but nodded.
Everyone went back to their bunks. I climbed up to mine and Minho's bunk, Minho climbed up after me and once we both laid down he turned away from me. Most likely angry at the fact I didn't tell him where I was going. I couldn't. Firstly, I didn't want to wake him up, he was exhausted and secondly, he wouldn't have let me go.
"Minho please talk to me" I whisper. He doesn't answer and I huff before turning around to face the wall. I hate arguing with him. I go to shut my eyes but remember what happened last time. I can't go to sleep, I'll get another nightmare. I force my eyes to stay open and stare at the ceiling, waiting for the next day to appear.
