Taking a calming breath, I knocked on the plain white door.
A sored male voice 'Come in' is my entry time.
The sight of a bared chested, skin and bone Michele lying on the hospital bed with tubes connected to his body made my eyes burn.
"How are you?" I asked sitting on the chair close to his bed and rest the small bouquet of multiples flowers arrangements on his night stand.
"Could have been better." He said with a forced smile.
"Alessia told me you asked for me."
"Yes, you wasn't happy the last time we saw each other."
"How can I be happy when someone who has made a big impact in my life is dying without fully living his life?"
A stray tear fell from my eye but I wiped it as I feel it.
I won't be weak.
I need to be strong.
"I am sorry."
"Don't apologize for something you can't control." I said more softly than before.
"I lived my life as I pleased but the one thing I wanted the most was a family of my own."
He looked at me with that love I don't know why it's still there when I refuse to feel the same for him.
"Just try to be happy for the remining of your life, please."
I begged getting up to leave.
A fragile paper-like hand around my wrist made me pause.
"Is that all you want to tell me?" He asked.
"I told you a million time, Michele," I said turning to face him with a stern face with uncontrollable teary eyes.
"I love you as an individual, I am grateful to you for being in my life but I can't return that love you want me to love you. I am not your one..."
And I left.
A male screaming in pain filled my ears as nurses ran into the room I came out from.
The tears refuse to fall I am numb.
