Just give in. Let your anger consume you like a great fire swallowing everything in sight. Ascend to godhood, Nyssa. Make them pay for underestimating you. Be merciless. Cook them in their homes. Scorch them in their beds. Stomp on them like ants because we are dragons, and we don't have to abide by the regulations and laws set by pathetic fools like them. If you are going to call yourself my daughter, then fight! Declare war on the whole world just because you can! Turn society's hopes and dreams into ashes in their mouth! Make the entire world fear you and remember your name. You are Nyssa, the Destroyer of Heaven!
Nyssa felt a tug as if Itsuki had forged a spiritual link. His voice ensnared her like a caught fish, and his desires reeled her into reality.
Nyssa stopped sleeping. Her eyes widened, turning bloodshot. Nyssa suffered from an indescribable feeling when she woke up. She felt her instincts wage war inside of her.
Veins formed outside of her irises, and a scowl melted its mark onto her face. Nyssa took a deep breath. She imagined Ren's golden eyes to reduce her anger.
"Renny," Nyssa whispered. "I need you."
Nyssa was trapped in a cycle of perpetual anger. As a dragon, it was in her nature to feel enraged or be destructive. But Nyssa knew what came from her destruction and deeply desired to reel herself in.
Fortunately, there were people in Nyssa's life capable of keeping her primal tendencies at bay. Through sheer willpower, Erica acted as chains to restrain Nyssa if she lost control. However, Itsuki served as the hammer that freed Nyssa from her chains.
"I can't rely on Mama anymore." Nyssa told herself. Her voice was no longer a whisper and sounded like a low growl. Her teeth already transformed into fangs, and scales were forming along her neck. "I need you Renny or else I'm going to lose my fucking mind."
Apart from Erica, Ren and Seth were the only people able to mellow Nyssa out. Ren could do it through a familial link and emotional ties. But, Seth did it using only his voice.
There was something about Seth that made Nyssa feel dangerously calm. She wasn't sure if it was his assertive voice or steel-blue eyes, but she felt strangely submissive to him. Seth had an aura to him that Nyssa sensed only in Ren. Seth's aura was indescribable when near him. Nyssa felt as if all her power was being sapped away.
She felt fortunate to have so many people looking out for her. But, Nyssa began to realize how reliant she had become. Now she was alone. She didn't have Ren to suppress her urges, Seth was no longer on their side, and Erica is dead.
Without them, who was Nyssa supposed to rely on?
"Do you normally look this angry when you wake up from a nap?"
Nyssa's eyes twitched and darted to the side. She saw Hakuji standing over her with his usual dull expression. He gave her a thin smile. Although still cursed by the Fumiko's iciness, it felt warm enough to make Nyssa feel welcome.
"Yes." She answered. "I'm always angry."
"That's unfortunate," Hakuji said sympathetically. "No one should have to go through life always being angry."
Hakuji gently touched Nyssa's face. His fingers were as cold as Suzume's glares. He ruffled her hair and sat down near the fireplace.
"May I ask why?" Hakuji didn't look Nyssa's way. He focused entirely on the half-drawn scrolls laid out in front of him.
"Why what?" Nyssa sounded confused.
"Why are you always angry?" Hakuji probed. He was curious what was the source of Nyssa's anger. It was strange for someone her age to have so much built-up resentment.
