CHAPTER 2

Aether's POV.

I have been waiting for half an hour and zhongli hasn't come to meet me yet in this small Cafe. I can't even remember how many milk coffees I've ordered at this point.

This time I ordered strawberry cake and this will be my last since I might run out of money after ordering a new wooden door and a second hand sofa..

'Is it ok to trust this person? I feel like I shouldn't have come'.. I thought to myself.

I was about to finish my cake and just head home when the bell rang signaling that someone came. As I turn my head to meet a different person instead.

He was irratated and the number of piercing in his ears couldn't be counted anymore, he has a very handsome face but too cold to look at..

"are you aether?" the boy huffed as he leaned over to me.

"oh uhm, yes I'm aether. Are you sent here by mister zhongli?" I replied standing up but to my surprise he was slightly smaller than me.

The boy stopped for a minute and looked at me head to toe.

"..."

"uhm excuse me if you have anything to sa-"

"I'm Xiao, And yes Mr. Zhongli requested me to meet you instead of him." he cutted me and started fixing his hair then his collar.

(he was actually trying to impress aether here xD)

"he said he can't meet you because something came up and I know for a fact that, that was the stupidest excuse he could tell someone." he added, I flinched and he crossed his arms before looking back at me.

"how about we sit down hm?" Xiao hummed as he sat down which I also complied sitting down in front of him.

"can you tell m-"

"oh by the way, after this, you have to Come with me."

"well how about you let me finish what I have to say?" I countered as he looked at me a bit shocked. What? Can't I complain?

Third person POV.

Xiao was actually impress that someone actually talked back at him in such an ill mannered, people knew what would happen if some stranger did that to him. They'd be out cold.

Xiao was silent for a moment before putting both of his hands in the table making aether flinch as he gripped his leather bag.

"alright, Mr. Angry bird, please do ask me any questions you had in mind."

Aether's face soured as his eyebrows we're deliberately tied in a knot as he chewed the inside of his cheek. It seems like the two won't be getting along in the future.

"please don't call me that. And I would like to ask about my twin sisters missing case 2 years ago.." aether replied subsiding his anger for awhile. Xiao hummed and pinched his chin before saying-

"can you tell me on full detail?"

Aether nodded and quickly grabbed the files that he had kept safe, placing them in the table before saying " she went missing on the day of xxxx she left a note that's been smudged with blood.." aether stopped and bit his lip.

He couldn't continue, Xiao was looking as he noticed him shaking, lips quivering but then Xiao didn't show any concern or whatsoever since it was abit unusual for him.

Aether took out his medicine and started drinking them one by one, Xiao only stared as if he knew what was going on. He knew what happened.

"aether, you wanted to know how and who caused your sisters death, and this has been going for 2 years. Don't you feel like something is wrong here?" Xiao smiled as aether stopped taking his meds meeting the gaze of the boy in front of him.

"what do you mean?" aether asked coughing abit as he looked at xiao, his hands shaking as if the meds didn't do much.

"the police should've known this, why keep it to yourself, aether."

Aether banged the table and looked at Xiao dead in the eye, what the hell did he mean?

There was no people in the Cafe only the staff that's been cleaning the table started murmuring making the atmosphere heavy.

Xiao stood up and grabbed something in his pouch, aether was confused as his eyes widen when Xiao fed him something, shoving it harshly on his mouth, making aether coughed so hard that his eye's started to swell.

"what the-!!" aether was about to blow his top when his face instantly met the table making a loud thud, as his vision went black. Xiao then looked back at the staff people and showed his fake cop ID.

"don't worry, I'm one of the cops and this person is arrested for smuggling. I will be reporting this to the head office." Xiao stated in a calm voice as the staff people were shocked as they all looked at each other before nodding, can't believe they bought that act..

Well the only problem now was how will Xiao carry aether and bring him to his master.

Xiao sighed as he grabbed aethers arm, wrapping it around his neck, Xiao couldn't stop his laugh when he noticed that aether looked like he just ate baby powder..

The two then head to his small scooter as he put aether infront of him, aethers weight couldn't be compared to his height, how can this thin stick be so damn heavy? Did he ate a whole circus or something?

Xiao then started his engine. how can his master be so cruel making him do all his dirty work? Why not let Hu tao do it instead? Xiao didn't want to be included in any of this in the first place.

The road was in total silence as the only thing that can be heard was xiao's little scooter roaring.

Aether groaned in discomfort and then snuggled on xiao's chest as he hiccuped some of the left over powder on his mouth. Xiao was driving as he felt his ear heat up, how can this person be so calm at a time like this?

The powder was somewhat effective although it's only active in a short time and aether would be waking up any minute now. Xiao didn't know why his master wanted this person so badly but something inside him has this feeling of security when he met aether for the first time.

But now that he thinks about it..
