Lydia
"Lilly!" nudge "Lilly" another nudge but I just groaned and turned over to the other side.
"LYDIA ELISE CAMPBELL! I swear if you're not up in 3...2.."
Uh uh..the full name. This can never be good. I shoot up in bed before 1 and turn over to see my mother with a very amused, slightly impatient expression on her face. On seeing me up and annoyed the smile on her face widens whilst still carrying that amused expression.
"Mom why are you here its only-" my eyes flick to the clock on the wall before widening. "its only 8:30......for gods sake mom!"
It was currently a weekend so it wasn't as if I had to wake up for work either. Then why was she in such a hurry to wake me up. I started lying back down but her next sentence made me shoot back up erasing any traces of sleep from my mind.
"Mason's coming back today" mom finished her sentence with an excited clap while she waited for my reaction. I searched her face for any traces of a joke but all I could see was pure love and happiness radiate off her face.
To say I was shocked would've been an understatement. My mind kept replying the sentence over and over again
Mason's coming back today......Mason's coming back today. The brightest smile graced my face and mom just enveloped me in a hug, kissed the top of my head and then left me alone with my thoughts.
Mason Carter is my childhood best friend and the love of my life. At least for me he is. Our moms were best friends from school so they made sure that their children grew up to be the closest of friends as well…and I mean it literally.
Ever since we were little, it would always be our group of three, Me, Mason and Bella. The three of us combined were like triple the trouble and practically inseparable. Then life happened and my two best friends left to pursue their careers.
Mason left for UK for his specialization in order to take over his dad’s business. He settled there and is now running the office in London. He also does shoots as a fashion model occasionally but that is rare and for only the biggest names in the industry.
At first we talked on the phone all the time, checking up on one another and discussing every single detail of our lives…
But then the calls became missed calls, texts became delayed. Promises to catch up were left unanswered. He was just too busy to ever catch up with me. Although it broke my heart as we drifted apart I don’t blame him and I guess I never will. I haven’t seen him or heard from him in over 5 years.
Bella’s in Chicago practicing her law degree. Although she’s also always caught up in her work we’re still as close and somehow always find time for each other. We talk on the phone all the time and visit each other whenever we can. The last I saw her in person was 2 weeks ago when she came in town for a case she had.
Life’s been hard without having my two best friends by my side, but I’ve slowly learned to cope up. It was such an emotional moment when we saw each other off at the airport. I couldn’t stop my tears. Now I’ve learned to keep myself occupied with my passion, that is fashion designing. It’s why I stayed back in the first place, because New York was where I belonged. I joined my mom’s company and have been working towards my goal ever since.

"Ughh" I throw the 20th dress on the couch. It's been two hours and I still can't decide on what to wear. Mason's gonna be here after a really long time and so I want to look absolutely perfect. Plus I've heard he's really updated his game being a fashion model and all.
I take a look around my walk-in-closet and it's a mess. I'll just deal with it later. My eyes randomly land on a jumpsuit and a content smile came on my face. This had to be the one.
It was a white high wasted jumpsuit with one shoulders full sleeve and a tie detailing at the front.
I paired it a pair of nude heels and some gold accessories. Keeping my makeup natural and glowy with my long wavy hair cascading down my back. I was ready. And by the time I would reach the Carter's house, Mason would've already arrived.
The drive to the house was a nerve wrecking one. What am I supposed to say. How shall I greet him. Should I call him Mason or 'Snuggles', like I always used to. I saw him in pictures and damn does he look good. He's turned out to be just like a Greek model. With his chiseled jaw, steel grey eyes and jet black hair. Will he have changed? I know things have changed but did he too? The thoughts kept swirling in my head.
Upon reaching the Carter Mansion, I handed the car key to the driver. Everything looked the same pretty much. I took a deep breath and then finally rung the doorbell.
