Jimin's hands tremble, so he clenches them tight behind his back. He flinches when Seokjin comes to a stop in front of him and announces in a booming voice:

"Your highness, Park Jimin has arrived."

"Enter." the female voice from behind the door is clear and firm.

Jimin quickly bows to the eunuch when he enters Joonhee's chambers. All nerve endings prickle nervously under his skin as he stands in the middle of the large reception room and bows deeply before the young woman behind the low table. She's the one who could crush the little hope of safety and contentment Jimin has - if she wanted.

Jin had filled him in on the use of correct titles in Silla, so he greets the Bubuin , the wife of the Grand Prince, Daegun :

"Bubuin. Park Jimin of Gaya at Your Highness' service."

"I'm pleased to finally meet you, Park Jimin-ssi. But please let's drop the formalities. We will be close, almost as close as family, so please call me Joonhee - or Joonie. That's what my friends call me."

"Yes, Your Highn... I mean Joonhee."

"Good. Please have a seat." she gestures to the cushion at her table.

A servant girl appears with tea and sweets. Jimin uses the silence to cast a look around the room and its owner: decorated in soothing, earthen tones and lovely woodcarvings and paintings, the room is cozy and warm.

The princess in front of him naturally shows her royal upbringing by the way she sits tall and straight: her eyes are sweetly almond shaped, but her gaze is alert and sharp, her face broad and smooth and her lips curled into a small, welcoming smile. She is not wearing formal attire, only a comfortably flowing silken hanbok in gold and green, showing off her pretty honey toned skin, and her hair just pulled into a braided chignon adorned with a large jade binyeo pin.

"Please." she makes a gesture towards Jimin's teacup.

"Thank you." he takes a tiny sip and feels his cheeks blush because of her intent gaze on him.

"You're very pretty. Cute."

Jimin turns a shade pinker, because it sounds like a simple observation and compliment rather than a venomous or jealous accusation.

"I'm glad you're making our Jungkookie happy." she continues: "I'm glad he finally took a lover, too."

The too makes a question burn on Jimin's tongue, but he's still too shy to speak, so he just stuffs a honey cookie into his mouth.

"But enough about me - tell me about you ."

"I- I don't know..."

She is quick to interrupt him: "Sorry, I don't want to sound like the inquisition and make you uncomfortable, so I'll tell you a little about myself first, hm?"

Joonie speaks rapidly, thoughts in her head racing faster than an average person. Jungkook told Jimin she was the most intelligent person he knew. Now Jimin starts to get it while he listens to her speak with full confidence that the right choice of words will automatically tumble out of her mouth without skipping a beat:

"Tell me if Kookie already told you, but I'm 26 and was born in Tang China to the younger brother of the emperor and a Mongolian princess. I'd like to see the vastness and emptiness of the land she came from one day..."

With a tiny shake of her head her thoughts return to their starting point: "Anyway, I came here five years ago to marry Kookie and I fell in love with him instantly - I mean, not love love, but like loving and adoring a younger brother, you know? He's such a baby and has a really pure heart. A big heart, too. So I'm happy he finally found someone who makes that precious heart of his beat faster. Someone who makes him happy."
