Jimin wakes to the sounds of Jungkook stretching and yawning loudly in bed. He cracks open an eye and catches a sliver of bunny teeth and a deep view of the rosy back of Jungkook's mouth. The alpha's hair sticks out in all directions and his eyes are tiny slits, but he breaks into a genuine grin when he sees Jimin is awake.

"Morning, hyung."

"Morning, baby... ah, ahem... alpha. I mean." Jimin sputters and coughs, face coloring a bright shade of embarrassed red.

The pet name slipped from his unconsciousness unbidden. But Jungkook's grin just grows wider.

"Don't worry. You can call me baby any time of the day. I like it. Please don't stop."

The alpha seems in a much better mood than yesterday, even adding a teasing edge to his words so early in the morning. Jimin puts both palms on his cheeks in an attempt to hide the blush and mutters:

"Slept well?"

"Yeah, thanks to having you next to me." Jungkook beams: "You?"

"A little better, too. Thank you."

"Good. I'm glad that we agree: we'll have to sleep together for now until the bond is fully formed."

It's the mischievous, challenging twinkle in the younger's pretty eyes that makes Jimin finally also break out into a grin:

"I guess so."

And it's just nice. It feels nice to wake up next to Jungkook without tension or anxiety polluting the air. Just to wake up to a normal day where they can simply talk to each other without anger, accusations and looming disasters. They have a chance to understand each other. It makes Jimin's heart finally feel a little lighter, a little more alive.

While the camp gets ready to leave, Jungkook and Jimin decide to ride ahead. They wanted to go alone, but Yugyeom insisted on following them at a distance with the young Hwarang assigned to Jimin in tow. The young alpha's name is Youngjae and despite his squishy bread-cheeks he constantly looks a little crabby. At least he's quiet, Jimin thinks.

Bada and Balam move at a leisurely pace, their breath little puffs of white in the crisp morning air. Unlike yesterday, the shared silence between Jimin and Jungkook feels comfortable. The omega admires the gorgeous landscape of mountains coming closer.

"Silla is beautiful." his tone is full of honest verve.

"Thank you. I'll take you on a trip in spring to show you its beauty - if you like."

If I'm still here then, Jimin ponders. But he pushes the thought away. He does not want to spoil the peaceful morning with thoughts about the future - wondering if he will want to test Jungkook's promise to let him go when the time comes.

"We'll reach the border of Gaya before noon." Jungkook interrupts his thoughts.

Jimin hums in reply. And then he gathers his courage, because he knows they need to talk - they haven't ever since Jungkook found out Jimin only pretended to be in love. He takes a deep breath, summoning his courage into a tight ball in his mouth before he speaks:

"Jungkook-ah. I'm sorry for what happened."

"I know." the alpha sighs, picking up the mood shift immediately: "Me too. I'm sorry. Now you're stuck with me against your will. But as I promised: once my parents lost interest in our union, I'll help you to leave - if you still want to."

"No, it's not that..." Jimin is quick to soothe without thinking. He cringes, because it sounds hollow and dishonest, so he adds with more weight: "...but thank you. Let's cross this bridge when we get there "
