3 days.
The next morning, Y/N woke up to quite a surprise. The surprise being a peculiarly large pair of wings shielding her body like a warm blanket. Her eyes were blinded by a harsh beam of light that shone through her window, the streak just happening to shine directly into her eyes and causing her to squint. Once she regained her vision, she found herself trapped in a pair of familiar yet unfamiliar arms, one wrapped securely around her middle and the other not too far from her face, resting by the side of her head.
Warmth. Arms. Wings. It didn't take too long for her face to heat up once she realised her situation.
"Good morning, Y/N."
Oh, my god.
The sound of his loud, echoey voice only confirmed those strong suspicions. Though her whole body felt as frozen as ice, her skin hotter than the sun, with a great swarm of emotions flooding through her system. She couldn't even find it within herself to turn around and face the man behind her, knowing far too well that if she did, she wouldn't be able to function. She hadn't a clue how she had gotten herself into this position in the first place - last she checked, the both of them were on opposite sides of the bed... so how did things lead to this?
"You were having a bad dream. My powers allowed me to alter your dreams into something better, but in order to do that, I must maintain contact with the subject. Though... this part happened to be your subconscious' idea, not... mine." He spoke shamelessly, having heard her thoughts loud and clear. She immediately squeezed her eyes shut upon his words. And there it was. That incoming wave of embarrassment crashing down upon her form like a tidal wave. Of course she was the cause of this mess - she didn't know why or how she could expect any different, being the clumsy girl she was. But then yet another realisation hit her.
...He could alter dreams?
"It's called 'Dream Projection', but yes, I can."
"Okay, quit reading my thoughts!" She whisper-shouted, earning a small 'sorry' from the deity in response.
She huffed out a heavy exhale through her parted lips, finally conjuring the confidence to turn on her opposite side and meet the voice from behind her. Once she did, she wasn't too surprised - the only thing that hadn't failed to startle her, however, was how close he had been. Their faces were merely inches away from one another, causing Y/N to clear her throat and shuffle back in his hold slightly before actually remembering her question. He just... continued to stare, clueless to the awkwardness of their situation.
"What do you mean 'Dream Projection'?" She asked with an unsure tone, her eyes squinted suspiciously as she eyed the large 'X' that ran across his mask.
"It's another one of my abilities. I don't use it very often because I never really have a need for it, but you seemed pretty distressed not long after you fell asleep so I figured I could ease your mind a little." He explained in a hushed tone due to her tired state, watching as her expression contorted to an even more confused one. She... couldn't remember having a bad dream even as she fought to remember. In fact, she found that sleep to be a lot nicer than her previous ones, where she hadn't woken up with tear-stained cheeks. It was... odd, but then again, she'd learned things were often unpredictable with XD. But, truthfully, she liked it that way.
Waking herself from her thoughts, she returned her attention to the god beside her, looking up at him with curious eyes. She was mostly curious how he had been during the night, rather than her own experiences - from the looks of things, it had been the first time he'd slept in a bed, let alone her bed. She had to admit, seeing him act so amazed and awestruck from a mere cushiony surface was quite amusing.
