Pairing: Kirishima x Reader

It was a late afternoon when you were walking with Kirishima. Things seemed different. Though things seemed the same, cherry blossoms dancing in the air as they descended to the ground. The gentle breeze brushing passed. Occasionally a car would trundle passed on the road. Even then everything seemed like it should. Perfect almost. Except you could sense it. Something was off and you couldn't seem to place it.

"Does something feel off to you?" you asked. Eijiro just looked down at the ground and shrugged. Then it hit you. This was what was off. Kirishima's not been acting like himself all day. In fact he's been acting glum recently. Maybe it was because he messed up in training or got a low score on something. You shook your head. Normally that wouldn't bother him, he'd just try again and harder next time.

You were put off by the silence. "Are you okay Kiri?" you asked softly. Hoping that he'd say whatever was on his mind. He didn't respond. He only walked faster. "I'll see you later Kiri," you responded to his silence. It worried you but maybe he just needed time to himself. Everyone needs time to themselves every now and again.

The next few days worried you even more than the first. Kirishima stopped hanging out with you. He started hanging out more with Katuski and Denki. He wouldn't stop to talk, he was always on about training. It was strange. Did he not like you anymore?

You waited at the bottom of the steps after school, the rain pouring down and the sound of it hitting the umbrella did nothing to scare away the thoughts in your head. He didn't like you anymore. That's all you could think about. That was really the only explanation that you could think about. You saw Eijiro with his arms slung around Denki and Katsuki as he left towards the common rooms.

I guess it was only natural to want to run after him and demand why he wasn't going to talk to you. After two years of friendship and now he decides to walk away. It hurt more than you'd let on. You started the slow walk to the common rooms. It felt lonelier than usual.

"Kiri, you really need to talk to her man," you heard Denki loudly whisper from the living room. You sighed before heading up to your room as usual. You get it, he's gone back to his original friend group. He never really stopped being friends with them in the first place and your happy about that.

It's just weird that there seems to be a problem between the two of you. One that he's not talking about. You've also noticed how he'd lost weight. Even just a little bit. The muscles more defined but it didn't stop you from worrying about his health. He's more tired in class than usual, less energetic. Something was wrong and it was like you were the only one to have noticed.

There was a knock on your door, one that you haven't heard for months. "Come in," you responded. The door opened and closed and then the bed dipped beside you. A throat was cleared but you still didn't look up. You just waited for them to talk.

"You must hate me."

You knew instantly that it was Kirishima. "Did you friends tell you to talk to me or did you decide to do it yourself," you sneered. You didn't mean for that to come out. Especially sounding that mean.

"I deserve that. I know I've been distant these last few months and I'm sorry. I just. I needed to work things out for myself. I needed to understand what I felt." he spoke. It came out as a sigh. Did he really want to do this conversation? It seemed like he was forcing himself. Maybe this was the last conversation the two of you will have.

"Figure out what Eijiro? Figure out that I'm just as boring as all the other girls? Figure out that you don't like me. That I'm no-"

"It's not like that!"

He cut you off and suddenly he was on his knees in front of you, eyes brimming with tears, voice cracking from sadness. "Then tell me what it's like! I'm tired of feeling like I'm nothing to you." you said.

He took a deep breath. "It's a really unmanly, really sucky reason that I did that. I should've just come to you first and dealt with whatever happened and instead I ran away." he admitted. His brows were furrowed and you decided you didn't like the look on his face. He seemed like he was thinking about something.

"I just. I love you and I didn't want to tell you in case you didn't feel the same way. Instead I ended up hurting you just because I was scared. I'm a coward."

You'd never heard him so upset before. "Oh Kiri," you cooed sliding off of the edge of the bed and onto your knees in front of him. You pulled him into a hug, feeling his tears hit the skin of your neck. At this point you were crying too. "It's my fault too, I didn't even try to ask you what was wrong again, I just thought you didn't want to talk to me ever again," you admitted.

Both of you were crying now. You were pleasantly surprised when he rested his forehead against yours moments late, the warmth making you feel safe and happy. You calmed down and closed your eyes to enjoy this feeling.

You took a deep breath before stealing a kiss from Kirishima. When you pulled away, he had a goofy, lopsided grin on his face. The kiss shocked him but all he could say was wow. It also confirmed to him how you felt. That you felt the same way. "I want to hear it," he urged you to say what that kiss meant. "Say it, please," he whispered as he pulled you to rest against his warm body. Stealing another kiss, you pulled away to look into his eyes with shy smile,

"I love you Eijiro Kirishima."
