The year X771, it was a time in the Fairy Tail guild that many members thought wouldn't mean much to them. Especially with the fact that there wasn't really anything special about the year for them. However, due to the mission that one of the older members was about to embark on would change the fate of a few other members of the guild. The member is named Ina Vermillion. The granddaughter of Fairy Tail's first master and the mother of one of the guild's dragon slayers. She was currently sitting at the bar talking to current guild master Makarov Dreyar.
"Are you sure about this Ina? You know there's a chance that you may not return." Makarov said while looking at the pinkette.
"Yes. I have to protect Emily and Johan from their father. This mission calling for a bounty on his head just makes it easier to take him out of the picture to keep them safe." Ina said determined to go through with her plan.
"It's a death sentence Ina. But I know that I won't be able to stop you." Makarov said before looking over to the guild door as his grandson and Ina's daughter entered the guild. "You should tell Emily that you're going out on a mission for a while. Me and Laxus will look after her while you are gone."
"Thank you Makarov. For everything. And please make sure Emily stays safe." Ina said with a gentle smile as she got up and headed over to her daughter.
Makarov couldn't help but be sad but proud of Ina and how far she had come since he met her. Having helped raise her when her and her mother came to the guild seeking help and then helping her raise her kids. He knew the fate that was going to befall Ina once she faced Bane but knew that the pink haired Vermillion wasn't going to go down without a fight. It was something that made the other strong in her own right.
Ina took a deep breath as she got closer to Emily and Laxus. She hated the fact that she had to leave her daughter all alone but knew at the same time that she didn't have a choice if she wanted to keep her safe from her sadistic father since he wanted to use her as a weapon when she got older. It was something that Ina wasn't going to accept. She wasn't going to sit by and let her children be used as a weapon by the man that she used to love so deeply. Not when she had the chance to put an end to him.
Emily had been talking to Laxus when she heard footsteps coming towards them and when she looked she couldn't help but smile when she saw it was her mother and she ran over to her. She went to hug her however upon seeing the look on her face she stopped and stared at her.
"Momma? What's wrong?" Emily asked as she looked up at her mother worried.
"It's nothing I can't handle my dear water dragon." Ina answered with a gentle smile as she ruffled her daughter's hair some. "I'm going away on a job for a while. Makarov is going to look after you while I'm gone. So make sure to behave for him alright."
"But momma you just got back from a job. It's not fair that you have to leave again." Emily whined.
"I know dear. But I have to make sure that I can get things for you and your brother. I'll be back before you know it." Ina said before turning to look at Laxus. "Please keep her safe Laxus. You two being such close friends as you are is the reason that I leave this to you."
"You can count on me, Ina. I won't let anything happen to her. You have my word." Laxus promised.
"Thank you. I will see the both of you when I return." Ina said with a smile before she headed out of the guild hall.
Emily and Laxus watched Ina leave the guild hall. Emily was worried about her mother since she could tell that she was lying when she told her that everything was okay. She had a feeling that something was extremely off with the job that she was taking but at the same time she was trying to protect her which worried her more. Laxus could tell that Emily was worried about her mom and he couldn't blame her. Especially since he was sure that he knew which mission that Ina had decided to go on since she had left protecting Emily to him and his grandfather.
