yoshi's heart was thumping as he understood what exactly has happened the day they met for the first time. it was raining heavily, the road was slippery, the sight was almost completely disturbed by the constant droplets, and the driver didn't notice the boy crossing the street.

the man was careless and despite the severe weather circumstances, was driving fast. if at that moment something didn't pull yoshi to the side in the last second preventing the tragic end, yoshi wouldn't make it to twenty-two.

then he saw a figure. dressed in white, with a dim light exuding from its body. the ethereal beauty of the view left yoshi awe-struck. he couldn't utter a word, not even show a hint of gratitude, he was tongue-tied.

a warm, velvety palm touched his cheek, a thumb caressed it two or three times and after a benign smile, it disappeared. yoshi was alone, on the dark road, his light was gone.

"you saved me because you were my guardian angel..."

he said out loud, to convince himself and face the long-awaited truth. he swiftly took a hold of the other's hands. they were as warm and as soft to touch as he remembered.

"t-thank you." was sentenced he wasn't able to say that day.

"I was with you the whole time, only you couldn't see me. how could I let anything bad happen to you?"
