"Ben! You came!" Erica gave me one of her rare, sparkling smiles. I smiled back at her as she awkwardly gave me a quick hug. My mom and dad were talking to Catherine and Alexander by their car. They had been sad to drop me off for the summer but excited for me that I had been invited to spend the summer with Erica and her family. They had all met before when Erica had been blackmailed by the Croatoan and they found out we were spy's. Erica grabbed my wrist and began leading me towards the house. I waved bye to my mom and dad and then followed her. It was sunny and warm outside, providing good light to shine down on the house. It was a small, sweet little place with a few bedrooms downstairs as well as a sofa and a bathroom, then a spiral staircase leading up to a warm little kitchen/living room area with a dining table up against a wall with a huge window providing a beautiful view of the lake. Erica led me into one of the downstairs bedrooms. It had light blue walls and a double bed against the wall with a lime green comforter. There was a small wooden dresser and nightstand on one wall and a door leading to another room on the beds right side.
"Where does that door go?" I asked, setting my bags down.
"To my room." Erica said cooly. "the rooms here basically all connect in a line. Its slightly annoying." I laughed as I began putting cloths in the dresser. Erica sat down on my bed.
"I'm- um, I'm glad you came." she said. "it gets kind of boring here sometimes with only my mom and dad around. They always tell me summer is training free zone, and then drag me along to do all these dumb activities." I finished unpacking and pulled out my swim trunks.
"Do you wanna go out on the lake?" I asked. Erica nodded.
"Sure. I'll go change." she slipped through the door into her room. I pulled on my bathing suit and flip flops, then knocked on Erica's door.
"You can come in now." she said. I opened it and walked into a mint green room with a baby blue plush comforter on the canopy bed, covered with a sparkly white netting and fairy lights. Unsurprisingly there were five kitten posters on the wall, signature Erica. Erica stood in front of a floor length mirror wearing a black bikini with little brightly colored polka dots spotting it. She turned around and I noticed her eyes land on my stomach for a spilt second. She hadn't really seen me with my shirt off much. I was having trouble not staring at Erica myself. Her long black hair was pulled up in a messy bun on top of her head and she was wearing little pearl earrings.
"Come on. Lets go." she said, slipping on black flip flops. We headed out to the lake. Erica hopped in a motorboat parked on the dock and motioned for me to get in.
"Wanna drive?" she asked.
"I don't know how."
"I'll teach you. Come on." she pushed me over to the cockpit and sat down behind me, wrapping her arms around me and putting her hands on top of mine on the steering wheel. I blushed a bright pink color. She flipped in the ignition and the motor revved.
"Press the pedal." she said, motioning to the gas pedal. I pressed my foot down and the boat suddenly sped away from the dock. Erica clung on, the gravity of the boat pushing her backwards.
"SLOWER!" she yelled over the engine. I let my foot ease up until the boat was going more of a controlled speed. Erica sighed with relief.
"Now its just like driving a car."
"I haven't done much of that either." I said. Erica rolled her eyes. I steered around a big rock sticking up out of the water, then sped up a little and circled it, Erica's hands still laying on top of mine, her warm body pressing up against me.
"Great. You getting the hang of it! Now try stopping." I pulled up to the big rock and turned off the engine. Erica threw a rope around the rock and tied us up, then brought me over to a small diving board off the end of the boat.
"You first!" she giggled, then pushed me into the water. I gasped, going down into the lake hard. I surfaced, snorting water out of my nose.
"HEY!" I said, trying to keep the laughter out of my voice. Erica couldn't, she was doubled over in laughter. I lunged up and grabbed her ankle, dragging her into the water. She surface a second later, glaring at me with mock anger.
"Your in a good mood." I grinned.
"Hey. Sometimes I can act normal. Get use to it."
"No- I like it." she smiled at me. "I needed a break from the Ice Queen."
"I guess I did too." she suddenly tackled me, swimming after me as I tried to shake her off.
"You tell nobody about this or I kill you!" she said between giggles. I didn't know Erica could giggle, but I guess she was full of surprises. And maybe, just maybe, I was starting to melt the Ice Queen.
I will update soon with a sweet Berica chapter! I cant wait to write it, its gonna be very cute! :)
