Hello Dear Readers, I know it has been a long time since I published anything here as I have been working on my original novels and writing, but I happened to pop on and saw that some people were looking for more of this fiction and I realized I hadn't posted this part yet. It isn't quite as smooth as some other chapters, but I hope you enjoy it anyways. If you do please be sure to leave some love and comments, and if you like my work please consider supporting my original work and/or supporting on my Patreon. <3

A dome of light covered the school and explosions from wands outside peppered it with crackling light in the darkness. The look and sound of it was like white lightning moving in slow motion. Even though Draco could see it, it felt like it was a million miles away. Hagrid's shack was quiet in comparison to the shouts coming from the school did nothing to calm Draco's nerves. Every snap and crackle made him flinch and his shoulder muscles get tighter and righter.

Where was she? They had agreed to meet here and yet Draco had the niggling feeling at the back of his neck and all the hairs there stood up to attention making every shift of his collar chill him. Every fiber of his being said something had happened and that was why she was not here.

She said she would be here, he tried to reassure himself and then a massive blast struck the barrier protecting the school and the whole of the earth shook. Pieces of the translucent barrier fell from the sky. It was a terrifying sight not just because of the amount of power needed to destroy the barriers around Hogwarts, but also because it meant the so called 'good guys' were losing.

They were loosing and Draco was just standing here...waiting doing nothing.

"Damn it all." He couldn't just stay here. He couldn't wait one second longer knowing that Hermione was in there, somewhere, in danger.

Draco grabbed the cloak and wrapped it around his body quickly. Either Hermione was there or she wasn't. Either way he was not going to stand by while her friends died. Wrapped up in the cloak and veiled beyond sight, Draco ran.

Blasts from wands echoed around Hermione as she ran up the steps inside Hogwarts after Harry. She was not supposed to be here. She had promised Draco that she would meet him at the shack and she had meant to, but things had gone sideways...like they always did. She could feel his worry through the bind and she tried to ignore it, knowing his worry would distract her. She wanted to send Draco some kind of reassurance, but didn't have the time to focus on anything like a message, she was in the middle of a battle. It had happened quicker than expected. Nothing was going according to planned. She only hoped he would understand, that he would find her, that he wouldn't do anything reckless thinking something bad had happened.

She needed him to be okay. When all this was over she needed him to be there standing, breathing, next to her at the end of it.

Hermione's heart pounded as she turned down the hall and took the next flight of stairs two at a time trying to catch up with Harry. She could hear the sound of spells being cast all around her, and the echoes of the blasts made her ears ring. As she neared the top of the staircase, she finally caught up with Harry, who had been running through the battle like a man possessed, looking for Nagini. She saw him, wand outstretched and a determined look on his face, squaring off against a group of Death Eaters.

"Expelliaramus!" he shouted ridding the closest of their wand with his favorite, and most commonly used spell.

"Stupify," Hermione shot as another raised his wand towards Harry. The third was joined by several more, leaving them outnumbered, but Harry wasn't backing down and so neither did Hermione. They fought their way through the throngs of Death Eaters, wands flashing as they sent spells flying in every direction. Hermione's heart felt like it was about to explode in her chest from adrenaline. They had to keep going, no matter what. This was the final push, and it felt like it. It didn't feel like the other fights she and the golden trio had been through, it felt different... like everything that they had done for the last years since meeting each other in first year had been leading up to this point.
