Elena was fond of walking. It was the one thing that would help her ease her mind when she was living with her aunt.
She had told her father that she would be going on walk early in the morning and would be back in time for the picnic. After walking all around London, she thought of the only place she could go to have some alone time and ease her mind.
There she stood in a quiet field, where there were lots of flowers beside a pond. She picked up a bouquet of flowers and sat in front of the lake, dipping her feet in the water.
She started making a flower crown with all of the different sorts of plants she picked. She suddenly heard the ruffling of grass, making her jump. She looked behind her and instantly calmed down as Benedict made his way towards her.
"Don't worry, it's only me." He jokingly raised his hands in defence.
Elena noticed that he had in his hand his usual sketchbook. Just like on the first day they met.
She chuckled. "I thought you wouldn't come."
Benedict frowned as he took a seat next to Elena. "I'll always come."
They sat beside each other in a peaceful silence, not saying a word, afraid that they might say something stupid and ruin this moment.
"So, what was your excuse to come here?" Elena suddenly asked as she looked at Benedict.
"I didn't really need one." He replied. "My mother and brother's attention is constantly on Daphne. They aren't aware of anything else."
"Ugh, you are so lucky." Elena groaned. "I've never had a moment to myself when my mother isn't breathing down my neck. Well, until now."
"What was yours?"
"I just told my father I was going on a long walk." Elena shrugged. "Which is technically not a lie because most of the time I do."
The young couple would meet each other at the very same spot everyday. They would come early in the morning, before anyone else was awake, and spend the whole day together. They talked about everything, from their deepest fears to their wildest dreams, and shared their passions with each other. They would play games, laugh, and have fun, enjoying each other's company and getting to know each other better day by day. As they grew closer, they felt a bond forming between them that they couldn't explain, but that they knew was real.
