"I would give my left nut for even one bar of service." Wyatt scowled at his phone for the hundredth time, his steel blue eyes narrowed at the screen before him.
"I'm right there with ya bro." Declan noted as he paced back and forth.
I admit that being stuffed in a dank smelling cave complete with the steady drip, drip, drip of leaking rainwater wasn't exactly ideal, it was however better than being out there in this storm. We were forced to take cover after we narrowly escaped the Harrison brothers and their drunken stupidity. I still can't wrap my head around why their sister Tara would sent them after me. I mean Reid and I are not even remotely together for crying out loud.
We have been stuck in this musty hell hole for two days now. Wyatt had been leading us to the direction of his family's cabin when the storm hit. Somehow after we evaded them at the cabin, they figured out the direction we were heading and began following us. Wyatt however made sure to cover our tracks so they had no way of knowing precisely where we were headed. I honestly believe that they made a wild guess and got lucky. That was until Declan's cell phone went off, alerting those morons to our location. He stopped to answer it, trying to get us the help we needed but, by that time they had caught up to us. Unfortunately for us it was someone trying to sell him a limited car warranty. I freaking hate the asshole's that do that shit. Then, we had no choice but to stay and fight the best we could. Thankfully we were able to escape their grasp yet again and seek shelter. By some miracle they have yet to find us in here.
Our only hope at this point is Declan and Wyatt's parents. We were supposed to be back home hours ago. We are hoping that since the boys didn't come home when they were supposed to, that they will come looking for us. And with Wyatt's dad being the town Sheriff, he has the authority to make that happen sooner rather than later.
"I have a couple of extra books in my pack if you want one to help occupy your time with." Kira mentioned not bothering to look up from her romance novel she was currently reading. She crossed her legs at the ankle, perching her feet upon a nearby rock.
"I'm a sixteen year old teenage boy, I don't do books unless I have to for school." Wyatt retorted. He tucked his usless phone into his pocket. Running his finger along the gash on his leg.
His childish sulking was adorable and I couldn't help but giggle. "You do realize there is more to life than girls and video games?"
"Because books are so much better." Pacey commented with a side smirk. "They are no different than video games. You read to get lost in a world of fantasies and romance, while we chose to get lost in a world of fast cars and zombies. The only difference is ours is on a screen and yours is in a book."
I spoke up with an innocent smile. "Not all books detail a fantasy world we can escape to. Some books are extreamly educational, leading the reader to absorb it's information and knowledge."
"Fine. I will read a damn book if it will get the two of you to shut the hell up. Do you have anything action packed." Wyatt questioned Kira.
"Here." She offered, reaching into her bag, again never taking her gaze off of the pages in front of her. It was a book by Anne Rice called The Wolf Gift.
"Careful dude. You don't want to go popping a chubby while were stuck in here." Declan joked.
Wyatt let out a deep hearty laugh. "Yeah right, like a book could give me a boner."
"You'd be surprised." Kira teased.
"Not going to happen." Wyatt declaired in a sing-song voice.
I stared longingly at the entrance of the cave. The fierce downpour pelting the ground in heavy waves. An unnerving rumble of thunder shook the earth and I peered anxiously at the low hanging rock wall above us.
