Have you ever sat and wondered or thought to yourself 'Why me?' I'm sure you have, I'm sure we all have at some point in our lives. Your dog jumped on you, making you spill coffee on your favorite dry clean only shirt or blouse. It's the middle of winter and you go out to start your car only to find the battery is dead. Your running late for work when some jerk decides to run a red light causing an accident at the intersection ahead of you. You can do nothing but sit there, waiting for it to clear up. You get the picture. That is me today. I have been avidly avoiding Reid for the past five day's. Well, since I found out he had a girlfriend and lied to me about it. But today I have to face him along with half of the town.

You see today is the day of the fire station's annual blood drive. They hold it in honor of one of their fallen comrades who passed away a few years ago from leukemia. Yes, it is a good thing the town takes the time out of their busy lives to come down here and donate blood for people who can't live without it. That's not what this is about. This is about the fact that some time today I will have to sit down with Reid to draw his blood and listen to his bullshit lies once again. Because I know for a fact he will sit at my station. We are about thirty minutes away from opening the doors to the public and I am trying to think of any possible way I can to get out of having to deal with him today.

I had volunteered to help with the blood drive on my day off before everything happened between Reid and myself and now that I am here, I have no clue what I am going to say to him or how I am going to act when he speaks to me.

Kira was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, getting what she could in order before the doors opened. Sam had put her in charge of everything because other than Dot, she had worked here the longest.

"Did you send out the conformation emails and texts to everyone who signed up to donate today?" Kira asked me for the third time today.

I couldn't help but laugh at how frustrated she was becoming. "Yes boss."

"Mock me again and see what happens." She jokingly threatened."

"Would you calm down. I have a checklist of all of my responsibilities and I have already went through it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything."

"I know. I'm sorry. It's just if I screw this up Sam will never leave me in charge of anything ever again. Plus, I know I won't hear the end of it from Aunt Dot."

"Okay, then let me help." I stated snatching up her checklist while she stacked the information pamplets on each one of the nurse's stations. "The waiting area has been lined with caution tape to lead everyone in a straight and orderly line. The stations have been preped and cleaned. We all have hazardious waste disposle bins, sanatation cleaner and more than enough supplies to get us through the day. I checked the coolers in the back to make sure they were at the right tempeture to hold the blood until we get back to the hospital. I helped Leslie place the snacks, drinks and gift bags from the firehouse in the recovery area. I'm pretty sure that everything is set up and ready for when the donors come in."

It was really great that the fire department made up gift bags to give to each individual that donated today. Of course, it included things for fire prevention and saftey but still, it was nice of them for wanting to help people who were donating blood and taking time out of their busy lives to be here. The bags included carbon monoxide alarms, smoke detectors and a small fire extinguisher. I know for a fact that, that stuff isn't cheap. That's when I found out from Kira that the fire station will be holding an auction of some sort next month to help fund what they are doing today.

"Your right. I don't know why I'm stressing so much."

"Because you want everything to be perfect and to go without a hitch. There is nothing wrong with that." I smile at her.
