Laughing wasn't really something you were familiar with. Ever since you're dad got his new girlfriend life had been hell. Y/N do this, Y/N why didn't you get that, Y/N whats wrong with you, I wish you were never born etc etc.So, when you turned 20,you finally decided to do whats best for you.
Living on your own.
It had been several weeks into preparing, sitting in your small but fully packed room browsing trough the internet to find something affordable. Which, as you weresure of, wasn't the easiest.
You only worked a small job in your nearest grocery store, hence not having a drivers license. Your hometown wasn't the biggest but still, having no car meant having to look for things near you.
So automatically while searching for your desired new home, you instinctively searched if there is a grocery shop nearby or if you could at least take the train or bus.
But moving also meant living on your own, which you haven't done yet. Even though not really helping in any situation, whether it be cleaning or helping you through life, your Dad still was there.
"This is harder then I thought it be, fuck", you mumble to yourself while only receiving offers way to high to afford.
Until this one, little apartment on the outside of a city you've always wanted to live in.
Sure it wasn't that big but still it was enough to live in. And you could afford it with a little extra money on the side, already having the additional costs counted in.
Quickly you search for a number or email to contact the landlord, to which you quickly email them. This kind of felt good, since you hated speaking on the phone.
Looking at what you wrote successfully, you press sent, close the tab and close your laptop.
A big grin painted on your face you slowly let yourself sink back into your bed, exited for whats to come.
You close your eyes for amoment, taking in the smell of the candle you've lit on your bed sidetable.
It smelled like fresh flowers, reminding you of better times, making your thoughts at least run slower.
Breaking the silence was your phone buzzing, lighting up.
Your best friend (BF/N) had messaged you a picture of a big light beam in the sky, one like you've never seen. It was very bright and had multiple colors in it.
It didn't seem like a lightning bolt, it was to big for it.
The caption said "LOOK AT THIS WHAT IS THAT? ISN'T THIS CRAZY"
But you weren't really interested in it, (BF/N) always played pranks on you, so you were 90% sure this was one of them. Because of that you chose to ignore the picture and went to sleep since you had to work tomorrow.
The almost burning sunlight wakes you up, since you'd forgotten to close the curtains yesterday. You look at your phone to check the time, seeing you still had time before you had to get ready.
Relieved you sit up and start scrolling through social media. What you see kind of makes you feel guilty for not believing your best friend. Your entire feed has been filled with videos and photos of the strange light beam, nobody really knowing where it came from. Even scientist made several posts and discussions, not really sure what this thing was.
You sit there kind of startled. What was this strange thing?
Then, when once again checking the time, you see almost an hour had passed, meaning you are running late. Quickly getting up you throw on your favorite green sweater and black flared jeans, some old socks that were laying on the ground and swiftly brush trough your hair.
Shortly eyeing yourself in the mirror, you see large dark eye bags that filled your face with almost an cute side to it.
You really didn't have time for beauty sleep in the last few weeks, you now slowly started to see the damage it did to you.
Always kind of sleepy, never really on 100% focus, your very prominent eye bags and your very messy room painted a perfect picture of a very overtaxed young person. But what was there to do about it? It has been your life ever since your dad forced you to do all the other work at home, while he was out having a good time with his new girlfriend.
Shaking off your thoughts, you catch yourself messing up signature black eyeliner. Trying to save it, you grab your nearest piece of cloth, put some makeup remover on it and do our best at wiping away the mess.
"Oh shoot", you say when looking at the time. Standing up, you run out of your room, grabbing your trusty black docs, throwing them on and leaving the house. While checking if you grabbed everything, you see a that the landlord has responded to your Email.
"Dear Miss/Mister L/N,it would be a pleasure to have you visit the apartment for a short look. How about this evening, lets say about 7pm? There will be other guest too, just so you know. In dear regards, V. Willson from Stark real estate.", you read to yourself while walking your way to your job.
Smiling to yourself you enter the building and turn off your phone. Then your already being greeted by your favorite coworker and other good friend F/N.
"Y/N! Hey! I've been waiting for you....are you ok? Your freaking me out with that big of a smile on your face...", they say looking at you very confused. You nod and begin to laugh.
"I- I think I found an apartment. It doesn't cost much, still it's pretty. I have a visiting appointment this evening. I actually have a chance to end this horror.", you state, tears forming in your eyes.
Your coworker just looks at you in shock. "WHAT OH MY GOD. I am so happy for you Y/N.",they quickly answer, dragging you into a very pleasant hug.
You know they mean it. The two of you started working together at the same time, learning everything together, meaning you knew each others mechanics really really well.
