It had been just under 2 months since Dream and Sapnap went on that trip. Dream had practically spilled every emotion he had on his mind that night, then continued the next day like it never happened.
But now it was different. Dream hadn't gotten rid of that feeling of nervousness surrounding George's arrival, which had approached much quicker than dream thought it would. The whole week leading up to George's arrival Dream had been meticulously cleaning the house as Sapnap mostly sat around. Dream didn't mind it just because he knew he would've ended up going over and cleaning whatever Sapnap tried to clean anyways. Saved them both the stress. When the day before George's arrival rolled around, Dream and Sapnap went to the store, buying many quite unnecessary snacks and drinks, but hey, they were gonna consume them so why not.
After very carefully setting up their pantry, Dream moved onto the basically shell of the guest room. He put out some sheets for George to choose from, as well as vacuumed everything that could be vacuumed. He cleaned out whatever was in the closet, which upon inspection, looked like things Sapnap had collected over the years but ran out of room for. Once everything was up to his quite high standards, Sapnap poked his head into the room.
"Wow dude. It's George, not some kind of celebrity. You can chill on the cleaning. Also don't touch my Pokémon cards-"Dream just scoffed. "I just want him to come home to a clean room."
"Riiight. Oh I came to ask you if you'd be down to pick George up from the airport? Quackity wanted to do a stream with me at like.. four and I don't know when we'll be done." Sapnap leant against the door frame, trying to attempt to give Dream puppy eyes. Dream on the other hand, was panicking. His newly developed feelings were already making him nervous as hell, but having to be alone with George right off the bat? Just thinking about it made Dream anxious. But.. he couldn't say no to sappy nappy.
"Alright.. I guess.." Dream gripped the Vacuum a bit more, dreading the decision already.
Sapnap smiled, acting like a child that just got permission from their mom to have ice cream.
"Wait, are you actually streaming or are you just making it up so you don't have to go pick him up?" Dream put his hands on his hips, but Sapnap was already retreating back to his room. With a sigh, Dream returned to his cleaning.
Dream barely slept that night. He tossed and turned for hours, scrolling through various social medias to keep his brain working. He wanted to sleep, but also sleeping would bring him closer to seeing George. Oh sweet, beautiful George. Every time he'd think of George, his heart would skip beats and he'd get butterflies in his stomach. Other than the night he confessed what he felt like about George to Sapnap, it was only ever mentioned once, when Sapnap made a joke about it while they were talking once. Dream obviously got upset about it, and Sapnap stopped making jokes about it. At least in private he kept it on the down-low. When they were streaming together was another story. To avoid suspicion, they all joked about it like normal, save for some quiet moments of Dream "zoning out" while in reality he was taking deep breaths and trying to remain calm. Dream and George talked regularly, streaming together like nothing had happened, and from George's perspective, nothing did happen. Dream just chose his words carefully and tried not to have a nervous breakdown every 20 minutes. George was still Dream's friend, and Dream didn't want to ruin that. He had mentioned that night of the road trip that he thought about telling George about his new found feelings while he was in Florida, and the two weighed the pros and the cons. Dream was still hesitant about it, but Sapnap thought it was a good idea.
Dream tossed and turned a bit more.
What if George didn't like him back? What if Dream Confesses his feelings and George is disgusted? Dream's mind went to the darkest places, telling him that George would hate him. That he'd be so upset that he wouldn't want to be Dream's friend anymore. What would Dream do then? He'd be known as the guy that asked his best friend out and got denied. He would be heartbroken and lose all his friends.
