From the start

Chapter 3

I laid down in my bed and stared up at the ceiling. The dark room was chilly. The only noise I heard was the tv in Jacks room. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I opened my eyes and groaned. The sunlight beamed in through the cracks of the curtain. The clock on my night stand read 10:03. I sat up and looked at the bathroom door. Remembering Graysons football practice, I walked into the bathroom and took a 30 minute shower. When I got out I blow dried and then flat ironed my long light brown hair that flowed down my waist and ended at my butt. Since it was only a football game and we live in California I decided to wear a white crop top, shorts, and white braid laced sandals.

Feeling confident about my outfit, I sprayed on perfume and put on deodorant. I brushed my teeth and put on a infinity sign neckless and earrings. I grabbed my bag and phone and headed downstairs. I would only have to wait 30 minutes before Grayson arrived. So I decided to watch MTV. I was watching an episode of Catfish when the doorbell rang.

I looked through the tiny peephole and saw Grayson. "Hey!" I said and opened the door. "Hey. You ready?" He asked holding out his hand. "Yup." I followed him to his car and sat in the passenger seat. "Hey!" Katie squealed. "What are you doing here?" I laughed. "Ethan invited me. He's my boyfriend." She said with a wider smile than before.

I nodded my head and buckled up. It was a long car ride. The entire time Ethan and Katie were talking, laughing, kissing and then laughing again. Grayson and I just made small conversation and held hands. We finally pulled into the stadium.

Grayson and I walked in hand in hand. He pointed to the small crowd of people standing in the bleachers. "This is some of the team and their girlfriends. Carter and Maggie, Matthew and Tiffany, Taylor and Mia, Cameron and Rachel, and Nash and Katilyn. Guys this is my girlfriend Britney." He said and wrapped his arm around my neck.

"Ok team! Get in the locker room and get ready for practice." Their coach yelled. Grayson gave me a kiss on the cheek and ran in. I sat with Katie next to the other girls.

Katie and I talked with the other girls. "We're all going out to eat after the game. Do you guys wanna join us?" One of the girls asked. "Sure!" Katie and I replied. The bleachers started filling with more and more people. That's when I realized I the game was starting.

I wasn't really sure what was going on but I was still cheering for the team. I heard the announcer yell that Grayson's team had won 15-3. I waited for him in front of the locker room with Katie. "You did great!" I said giving him a kiss when he walked out. "Thanks!" He smiled. We walked back to the car and met the rest of the team at Olive Garden.

I sat in between Nash and Grayson. "So Britney what school do you go to?" Nash asked. "I used to go to Eastwood high but then I switched to online school." I said and played with my fingers. "How come?" "Well, i didn't like getting up at 6 every morning and I didn't like all the drama there." He nodded his head and smiled. He accidentally hit Katilyn with his elbow. "Nash! Watch it! God your such an idiot." Katilyn yelled. I looked at Grayson in shock. She got up from the table and stormed out. "Why are you letting her talk to you like that?" I asked confused. "Cause no matter what I say she won't stop." He answered and looked down at the floor. "Britney don't worry about that loser." Grayson said digging into his plate of food. Nash stood up and pushed his chair in. I could tell by the way he pushed it in he was angry.

"Grayson that was rude. Your the only one who doesn't like him. What did he ever do to you?"I asked. Grayson sat in silence. I rolled my eyes and followed Nash. "Wait up!" I called out. He stopped and turned around. "Listen to your boyfriend he's right." He said and looked down at the floor again. "No! He isn't. Your not an idiot." I walked closer to him and gazed into his beautiful sky blue eyes.

He gazed back into my eyes. I felt my body tense up and I couldn't move. It was like I became frozen. "Come back in there." I said breaking the silence. He nodded his head and followed me back into the restaurant. "What did I miss?" I asked sitting back down.

Katie looked at me in disappointment. "Your boyfriend took the last bread roll." Her eyes then fixed on Grayson. I laughed and glanced at Nash, who was starring intently at me. shifting uncomfortably in my chair, I asked if everyone was ready to go. Everyone was finished eating, with the exception of Katilyn, who had stormed out earlier. Grayson dropped me off at home and I decided to go for a walk.

I walked for around a little and ended up at my favorite thinking place. Walking through a trail in the forest that lead to a beautiful waterfall. It always made me happier when I was here. I watched the water flow into the river below for a good 20 minutes before walking back home. That's when I ran into somebody on the side walk.

"Sorry." I looked up and saw Nash. "It's fine." He said and put his hands in his pocket. We stood there in silence for a minute. "Thanks about earlier, Grayson and I don't really get along to well." He said scratching his head. "Oh it's no problem. Why don't you guys get along?" "He just never liked me I guess." The tone in his voice seemed odd.

"Well... I should probably head home. It's getting late." I said and played with my fingers. "Yeah. I feel like we're friends. Why don't we trade numbers, just in case you ever need a friend or a shoulder to cry on." He smiled. "Ok." I said and smiled back. We gave each other our numbers and said bye a final time.
