From the start

Chapter 8

Britney's POV: Katie and I sat next to the rest of the girls. I looked at the field and saw the boys already practicing. I caught a glimpse of Grayson. My heart stopped, and then started beating faster. No sign of Katilyn that's good I guess. I don't have the strength to face her.

The coach blew the whistle and everyone sat on the bench. This happened last time too. I guess it's a break. Which means for 15 minutes, Grayson will have the chance to come over and talk to me.

"So Britney. How come you came? Grayson said you guys were finished." Maggie, Carters girlfriend, said. "We are. But I'm not here for Grayson." I said and scratched my wrist. "Oh. Then who are you here for?" She asked confused. "Nash." I answered. Everyone smiled widely. "I ship you guys way more than you and Grayson! He was actually talking about you earlier, I can't believe we didn't take the hint!" Rachel, Cameron's girlfriend, said. The girls squealed. I looked at them in confusion.

"Hey beautiful. You came for practice too?" Nash said and gave me a hug. I kissed his cheek and giggled. "You guys are the cutest!" Maggie, Carters girlfriend, said. I blushed and sat back down. Nash sat next to me and I looked into his eyes. I glanced at the bottom of the bleachers and noticed Grayson walking toward me.

Nash also noticed. His fist quickly clenched. I grabbed his hands and held them. "Just hold my hands so you don't do anything stupid." I said and held them tighter. "So you guys are a thing now?" Grayson asked. He sounded angry. "We're not dating if that's what your asking." I said a little annoyed. "Can we talk?" He said. I looked at Katie then at Nash and followed him down the bleachers.

"I'm really sorry about what happened. I wanted to tell you that I want you to be happy so I've moved on." Grayson said and looked at the floor. "Thank you. For wanting me to be happy." I gave him a hug and smiled. He nodded his head and walked back onto the field. I went back up to where I was sitting and smiled. "What did he want?" Nash asked. "To tell me he's sorry and he's moved on." I smiled.

The coach blew the whistle and all the players ran back onto the field. "I have to go back, I'll talk to you later." He said and kissed the top of my head. I watched him jog back onto the field and then I looked at Kate.

Practice was over and the rival team was arriving. Nash walked up to me in his uniform. "Well aren't you looking cute." I giggled and wrapped my arms around his neck. "I think I'm gonna need some encouragement to win this game." Nash said and winked.

I giggled again and then peaked his cheek. "Not what I meant, Here!" He said tapping his lips. I smiled and gentle kissed him. "Go get em tiger." I smiled.

He ran back onto the field and stood in position. The whistle blew and the game started. It was 5 minutes till the game ended and they were down by 2 points. "Come on! You got this Nash!" I yelled loudly. I watched them pass the ball and then someone run. They made a touch down with 3 minutes remaining.

The last 3 minutes they scored 2 more touchdowns. I ran onto the field with the rest of the girls and congratulated them. "Congratulations!" I squealed and jump in his arms. He twirled me around and kissed the side of my head.

"Wait here! I'm gonna change." He rushed into the locker room and Grayson walked up to me. "Hey!" I said and slightly smiled. "Hey." He smiled back. "Congratulations on your big win." I said and gave him a friendly hug. "Thanks." He looked at the floor and then back up at me. Nash made perfect timing and came back before Grayson could say anything else.

Although I do admit I feel pretty bad. But I can't give in, I can't go soft. "You ready to go?" He asked. I nodded my head and waved to Grayson. He opened his mouth to say something but then closed it.

Nash intertwined his hands with mine. Guiding me to his car. He opened the door for me, and I got in. "So where are we going?" I asked. "It's a surprise." Nash said driving away.
