Lucaya : The Endgame

Girl meets Lucas' feelings

It's been two months since the summer holidays started. Riley's been visiting her grandparents and Maya went with Shawn and Katy for a trip.
Now with only a week left for school Riley and Maya decided that they'll study hard and get good grades.

Maya's POV
I'm so tired with all the travelling I don't think I'll make it to the study group but I have to otherwise Riley will use the ring power. She's using it too frequently I think. Uhh I have to give a limit to it I think. Anyway I get up to go to her house.
I find Farkle, Zay, Riley and Lucas waiting. Woah am I late?!

"Hey we came early sorry forgot to message you." Farkle said.
That's weird. But I don't care I wouldn't have come early even if they told me to.
"Oh that's fine no problem. So what are we studying?"
We study for almost two hours and I fall asleep on someone's hand I think.
Lucas shouts" Maya!!!"
"What happened ?"
"You fell asleep in my hand ! Again!"
"Oops, Zay gimme your hand"
Zay happily obliges.

Lucas's POV
Did Maya just asked Zay's hand? Why would she do that? Wait why do I care? Because she falls asleep in my hand always. Why did I complain!!!! It's bad enough things have changed with Riley and Maya has already lowered her hahurrrs and huckleberry and ranger Rick and now this. Things are changing way too fast.
"Hey Maya I didn't complain so you can just sleep on Zay's hand. I want you to study and get good grades. Remember ? We wanna go to the same college. Imagine Riley and you in different colleges? "
That brought back her attention. I can't believe this was the thing. Geez talk about best friends they're more like a freaking couple.
"Lucas can you explain this concept I can't seem to understand it?" Riley asked.
"Sure!"
We spend the time discussing about studies.Wow finally she and I are being normal. I guess we both needed time.
*Next day
Next subject - chemistry.*

As soon as I read the words chemistry Pappy Joe came in my thoughts. As I shudder those thoughts I see Riley looking at me.
" Bay window now!!!!" She took me to her bay window.
"What's up with you ?! Do you like someone? Everytime you look at the word chemistry you become red and I don't know why. And even when we broke up you talked about chemistry so spill it."
I have to tell her. Fine.
"Look Pappy Joe didn't tell me that we didn't have chemistry."
"Then what did he say?"
"He talked about Maya. He thought we both had some chemistry that he and my grandmother had because of the way she cared for me."
"Oh!"
We spent 5-10 minutes silently until I couldn't take it anymore.
"Will you say something Riley!"
"So you like Maya?"
"No ! I don't know I'm confused. I mean I chose you over her and now if I feel something for her it'll be the worst thing. I don't want to become a jerk."
"Lucas you're not a jerk. You're my friend and you're Maya's friend too. If you feel something then you should go and tell her."
"I don't know if I feel something let's just drop this topic for now ok!"
"Fine."
Finally as she agreed to not talk about this we leave her room.
Everyone's looking at us and I realised they are getting the wrong image. Even Maya. Oh no!!!

Riley understood and explained that nothing is between her and I. I think everyone believed it except Maya. I don't know why I'm thinking about her.

Suddenly she asks zay to drop her home. And they both leave. Wow this feels weird. Does she likes Zay? Why wouldn't she wait for all of us? Weird.
Riley sees the look and tries to talk about it but I ignore.

Maya's POV
I think Riley and Lucas might give it a shot again. I don't know why but I can feel it.
Zay and I are walking down the street and he asks me," So what happened back there why did you wanna leave early?"
" I just didn't feel like studying anymore. I know one week later we have our tests but today waa enough."
"Well ok. Lucas kinda looked weird today didn't he?"
"Yeah he's been acting weird a lot nowadays. Maybe he's missing Riley."
He isn't convinced.
"I don't think that's it."
"Well then you can ask him yourself" I snap. I don't know why I snapped.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes Zay I'm fine. It's just I don't know."
" I know after josh you feel different and it's ok you're allowed to feel bad for as long as you want."
"Thanks zay." I realised I've reached my house.
*One week later*

School reopens. We gave our science test today and surprisingly it went well. Actually all of my tests went well except for maths. I think it's because of the group studies. My Riley has the best ideas in the world.
"Hey peaches!" I hear her sound.
"Hey riles, let's go to Topanga's I'm done with studying now. And I haven't made any paintings in the last week."
"Woah really?!" Lucas interrupts. He almost sounds shocked. Why does he always gets fired up when it comes to my art. He really cares I think. But I choose to not believe it.
Soon everyone arrives and we go to Topanga's.

*At Topanga's*

Lucas's POV

I've been thinking about Maya all week. I'm glad her tests went well. Though I was shocked she didn't paint all week. Her art is one of the best things about her and I never want her to give it up. I've always felt that way specially when the school tried to cut off arts.
Someone snaps their fingers at me. " Woah Lucas where'd you drift off?" Zay asked.
"He's lost in someone's thoughts I think " Maya laughed.
How did she know? Did Riley say something? I look at Riley. She gives me a ' I haven't told her' look. I believe her.
" Well I was Maya. But how did you know? Wait you've always known actually. You even knew my grandfather's name it's like you read my mind." Maya's look is awkward. Shit did I say too much.
" Wow Lucas that was unexpected."
Farkle sensed something but ignored it and asked me " so who were you thinking about?"
"Pappy Joe."
"Woah you think about him a lot huckleberry ! Are you missing the howdy cows and Judy the sheep?"
Here it is. Finally she made fun of me. I'm relieved. Riley notices it.
"Actually Maya I was missing tombstone the bull. Thinking about riding it again someday, maybe break my own record."
Maya's expression changes.
"Are you crazy?! Isn't one time enough for you ? You need help cowboy."
I know she's concerned. Yes. She still likes me. Wait why did I think that. Woah is Riley right? I like Maya? Even Pappy Joe senses it. Oh no I'm doomed. She'll never have me I know it. She's not over Josh and she's spending time with Zay.
