A Footstep Of Gaza

Big Question, Hesitation

At the age of 21 years, Gaza's body is getting taller and well-built. His unique eyeballs colors look much clearer, a mixture of green eyes and brown. He is standing in white undershirt with shorts smiling in front of the mirror. His reddish skin shows scar on several parts of his body, especially the arms. When he smiles, the more visible the line scar on his left oral commissure and his lower lip. However, as if getting an achievement he is proud of the scars attach to his body.

"I can do more than this" He said.

Then he takes his black suit, a black beret hat and loafers. Yet, he senses something is odd. Apparently during his time at the military academy he rarely takes care of his face so his beard and sideburn grow longer.

(He cleanly shaves his beard and sideburn)

After shaving, he goes to his bed with his laptop. He is looking for a vacancy in the internet. There he applies to some vacancies those he finds them interesting. Until few days later, he receives the email contains an invitation to attend interview.

Gaza goes to the place by taking public transportation in dressing modestly like the most applicants in general. There he meets with the higher-up. She is fascinated by the figure of Gaza. Then she asks Gaza into a room to be interviewed.

"Please, tell me about yourself"
"I'm Gaza St. Pales..."

(Before the interview continues, a middle-aged man comes into the room)

"I'm done" He said.

(The woman gets outside then the middle-aged man who sits in the chair)

"Good morning, I'm the CEO. Nice to meet you"

(The CEO looks at Gaza's CV)

"So Mr. Gaza, there is a thing beyond the requirements but catches our attention"

The CEO gives an explanation of what his job description that he will work in a team. He also make sure that Gaza won't do anything outside his job description. So it makes Gaza is willing to join the company.

"So when could you join with us?
"Tomorrow"

(They shake hands)

"Welcome to 'Facto de La Fait' company" The CEO said kindly.

Gaza comes home, but he hides this good news from Hisyam. He waits for the right time when he is truly finding his passion.

The first day at work, so many of his colleagues who wants to get acquainted with him. Although it feels uncomfortable, but he tries to respond to it sufficiently.

(A whisper is heard)

"He's so good looking"
"Absolutely, he's gonna be mine. I'll shoot him with my gun" A woman said.

Oftentimes he gets the same woman passes by his desk. However, he remains focused on his monitor screen which is monitoring the western area next to his city.

The second day at work, suddenly Gaza is assigned to the field. He and his team must do the task of digging a place which is suspected to be a treasure. So, they are required to complete the mission.

The first time of excavation, they make a small tunnel. The second times they re-enter it but they still find nothing. The third day, they are digging it deeper until it forms like an underground tunnel, hope he and his team don't miss anything and find the treasure soon.

It's been ten times they keep digging but still find nothing. But the company remains optimistic the treasure must be in it and orders his team to guard the place strictly.

Hisyam's Scene

In the midday after returning from the farm, Hisyam wonders where Gaza is. He doesn't see anyone except his dog which is sleeping on the couch. Then he looks for him Gaza in his bed room, there he sees his laptop still open. Out of curiosity he walks into the room, why does his laptop stay open when he isn't around. By chance, he sees a piece of paper under his laptop loads an agreement between Gaza and a civilian company.

Hisyam is the living room doing some works. In the late evening, Gaza comes home in neatly black suit and tie while carrying his backpack. He rushes to his room and he doesn't realize Hisyam is been waiting for him.

"Gazaly. Come here, son"

(Gaza turns around to face his grandfather)

"What are you doing at 'Facto de La Fait' company?
"I work there as a monitor security"
"Then why should there be a written agreement?"
"Grandpa, I agree because I feel challenged to complete a mission"
"What mission did you mean?"

(The more Hisyam asks the colder Gaza's body gets)

"Excavation mission to find treasure at certain place"
"What treasure did they mean, our city is small as for the traces perhaps it only the history of our ancestors. Gazaly, you know, they only exploit through you and they know you're up for a challenge. Now, I ask you to stop working for them"
"But grandpa, I like the job, challenges, I feel more alive"
"Try to understand what your grandpa is saying. Stop working for them!" Hisyam said furiously.
"I can't grandpa"

(Hisyam's voice gets loud)

"Even you dare to argue with your grandfather"
"I refuse to leave that job!"

(He can no longer resists his anger so he slaps Gaza's cheek )

"I slap the stubborn that is residing in your soul"

Gaza leaves his grandfather and goes to his room. He locks the door, he skips his meal and doesn't wanna go anywhere. There Hisyam puts his palms on the fingerprint scanner next to Gaza's door to open it. He tries to explain and collect many proofs about the company.

(Gaza is burst into tears)

"Grandpa, even I still don't get it why did you slap me"
"They are greedy people who always believe in a hidden treasure. They arbitrarily demolish any house they want, so many people must suffer losses because of them. In fact, the truly treasure is fertility of our land along its inhabitants. I can't fight the company because it is protected under a strong government. And I hope you know, I rebuild those abandoned places, create jobs for those in need, as you see it becomes a beautiful city like this" Hisyam explained.

(Gaza realized he's done a mistake)

"What if I do any thing for them?"
"As long as it's good, just do it" Hisyam stated.
