Standing next to Maeve and Homelander together is, well its tense. There's some weird and uncomfortable energy between the two but she seems a little relieved I'm here. I shine on a bright smile and wave into the crowd, who's grown louder now that I'm here.
"Hey Maeve, I'm Apollo, it's nice to meet you,"
She looks at Homelander and then to me.
"It's nice to meet you too," she says.
Homelander grabs both of our hands and lifts them into the air before the race begins and the crowd goes nuts, and Maeve gives Homelander a tense smile before she leaves.
"So I was thinking half cheese and half pepperoni, and an Avatar marathon, just like old times," I say.
He's got his million dollar smile on his face as he says yes, but he's staring at a gruff looking man in the crowd, who unlike the rest of them is staring directly at Homelander with a smirk on his face. A gun goes off signaling the start of the race and we watch as A-Train wins, but the man is gone as soon as he appeared. Homelander looks tense and I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, you okay?" I say, clapping and smiling for the crowd.
"I'm perfect," he says.
I roll my eyes as we leave and go to do more photo ops and autographs, going through perverts and fans. I catch a glimpse of Starlight, who is in a different uniform, who shoots me a smile. She comes over to give me a hug, which makes the photographers go crazy.
"I gave a guy my number today," she whispers excitedly under her breath.
I chuckle.
"Ooooo okay get some Star," I joke.
She smiles at me, "My names Annie actually, you can call me that if you want."
We are interrupted by paparazzi shouting questions at us, and Annie ends up leaving back to where she started, getting scolded by the marketing lady.
Homelander comes over and puts his arm around me waist smiling for photos.
"What was that about?" he asks. His grip on my waist tight.
"Just girl talk, nothing to worry about Homey," I whisper back.
I put my arm around him to as we smile, the blinding lights flashing in our eyes. After a few more minutes of photos we separate and leave. I head back to my house, its not huge, its pretty modest, but its mine. I call and order for some pizza. I hear Homelander knock on the door and open it to see him, still in his uniform. I chuckle.
"Do you have any real clothes?" I joke around.
He looks down a little embarrassed.
"No, I don't," he says.
I look at him sadly.
"Well luckily I have a few things that'll fit you, let me go get changed and I'll grab it," I explain.
He nods and shuts the door behind him. I go into my room and shut the door, as I strip of my uniform and begin to get changed.
