"Yesterday made me a fool today."
By BANKS
A year had passed since I had been living in Forks, and I was beginning to feel comfortable with where I was living now. Sometimes I would wake up with dread filling my being, not knowing if what had happened was a dream and I was still stuck in Arizona. I never expected to see Bella again until dad had come up one fateful night and told me she was coming down to live with us.
Today was that dreaded day.
"Fleur, do you want to come with me to pick up your sister?" I heard my father ask.
I was facing away from him, sitting on my bay window. The cool, crisp air hitting my face.
"No dad, I'm fine. You go on ahead and get her." I replied.
"Look, I know you two have never had the best relationship but, you got to give her a chance. She's still your sister at the end of the day."
I sighed
"I know I do dad but, I need to do it on my own time. This grudge isn't just about her and I. The way she treated you is just as wrong as the way she treated me." I explained.
"Hey, I won't pressure you into doing anything you don't want to. But, maybe with you being there though it might make the 1-hour drive back less awkward." Dad added.
"Okay, I'll go. Being in a silent 1-hour car ride just sounds awful."
"Thanks, Fleur, I really appreciate it."
"Let me get dressed real quick and then we can go."
"Okay, I'll go warm up the car."
My father soon turned around exiting my room/attic. I sighed again, not looking forward to seeing my sister. But, the sooner we get her, the sooner and I can get the initial dread of seeing her again over with. I threw on a tight olive green sweater and black jeans with black ankle boots. I grabbed my iPod just in case she started in on anything. I didn't want to snap at her, not on the first week she comes to town. Well, I at least didn't want to snap at her in front of dad. I walked toward the door before turning my head to look at my room. It was tempting to stay here. Its warm glow of lights and cush pillows were calling me.
I decided against it though, I was going to try and diffuse any awkward moments between my dad and Bella. It was going to be a chore though I could tell. I made my way outside to my dad's car wishing I had more than two seats in my car for once. My 1967 Mustang is a little less daunting than a police cruiser and I had a feeling Bella would have a problem with use driving in the cruiser.
"Glad to see you didn't chicken out petal." Dad joked
"Since I am joining you on this endeavor I expect you to get dinner tonight. I ain't cooking tonight." I replied.
"You got yourself a deal. We better head out Bella's plan to get in soon. Do you think she'll like the truck I got her? I know it's a bit old but it runs well."
"Knowing Bella, I think she will. I mean it's unique just like her," I said.
He chuckled before driving toward the airport. It was a peaceful drive, the scenery of the town whipping by me as we sped our way down to the Port Angeles Airport. The ride would soon end though as we made our way to our destination. We ran inside wanting to warm up quickly before we would have to be whisked away outside again. I scanned the area seeing if I could see my sister. I was having a hard time with it. I was about to ask dad if he had seen her when I heard him interrupt my thought.
"I see her petal, she's just lagging behind a bit," Dad said while waving his hands in the air.
Bella had found Dad easily as she came into view more. I noticed she was carrying a cactus.
