Okay, peoples, I have returned! I'm really sorry for the delay, school has kept me busy. On another note, this chapter marks the return of a character from the second story! Take a guess as to who it is... also, am I the only one who thinks "My December" by Linkin Park would be a great song for Eternal? Eh. Just sounds appropriate to me.

Enjoy!

"Give me back my sword!" Eternal begged, lunging for the boy who'd taken it.

"No way! You're a big meanie!" he retorted, sticking his tongue out at her. "I wonder how far I can stick this in the ground..."

"I said, give it back! I need it for my training!" Eternal lunged again, but the boy dodged. "Please! I only want to help people... I thought maybe I could use that sword to defend the world from monsters!"

"The only monster around here," said the boy's father, "is you. You claim to want to help others, but it always backfires."

"Not on purpose! I don't know what's wrong with my magic!" Eternal put on her nicest face. "Please? I just want to be good. My magic is probably just too weak to do complex things like restore a broken vase. But I know it will improve!"

The father just scowled. "You say that, Eternal... but we both know that this world has no room for a behemoth like you."

Eternal had had enough, and released a wave of magic at her sword, trying to pry it out of the boy's hand. However, it again backfired... this time horribly.

Eternal didn't know how it happened, but the next thing she remembered was the boy's father, without his son at his side, dressed in all black, throwing rocks at her. "Murderer! Villain! Witch!" he shouted. "Get out of here and never come back, you vile fiend!"

"I-I don't know how that happened! I could probably use magic to..."

"NO MAGIC! MY SON IS DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU!"

That night, Eternal and the guardian sat at dinner together in complete silence. Not even Strata Sundaes, her favorite dessert, could make her feel better. "Eternal," said the guardian after minutes passed, "I understand that you caused the untimely death of a young child. Am I correct?"

His tone was not angry, but it may as well have been. "I meant no harm at all," Eternal said quietly. "I was... the boy took my sword. They all called me names. They said... that I will never amount to anything. I was angry. I tried retrieving my sword with harmless magic, but..."

"...the result was not so harmless."

"Yes."

"Pay no attention to their words, Eternal. You are special. You are important. And..." The guardian only looked at her with love, of which she felt undeserving. "I am your friend. I understand how you feel, but they will lighten up in time. They all will."

"Yes, of course," said Eternal... but unbeknownst to the guardian, a seed of vengeance had been planted in her heart.

Akira made his way through Nightmare Tower, wary of anything that could jump out at him. As he walked, so did his mind, faster than his feet were moving.

He didn't want to think about what Janice was going through. It hurt too much. After all, he was responsible, in a way.

He had "killed" her, and now she was wandering around doing who-knows-what... with The Eternal still in her body. What was that horrible monster doing to her now? Was Janice even... still herself?
