Me and Janey are sat on the couch looking at magazines Janey being desperate for one is tattoo. Mum and dad are infront of us inspecting Micheal uniform.
"Dad it only custard." Janey says looking up from he magazine.
"That not the point today custard, tomorrow Poland! Hodder's a menace and must be stopped!" Dad says.
"It makes you wonder what his parents are like?" Mum says.
"Yes Janey... his parents?" Dad says.
"I think his dad's a builder." Janey says making me smile on the inside remembering that Hodder's are doctors well the Dad is.
"Well that says it all!" Dad says. "His dad's a builder Builers' answer to everything is a slap in th gob."
"Only when you call him names." Mum says.
"That wasn't a builder THAT was a plumber and it wasn't a name it was a suggestion." Dad says.
"Well I can't accept that we have to wait till Monday to sort this out." Mum says.
"Oh come on Susan It's just a weekend." Dad says sitting next to Janey.
"I know it two day of hell!I'm tense and on edge." Mum says.
"Just a normal weekend, then." I say.
"I will forgive but not forget that." Mum says her face turned happy as she clapped her hands. "Here's a mad idea!"
"So many" Dad says sarcastically as he copied mum's hand gester.
"Let's invite Jason's parents over and sort this out." Mum says.
"Oh yes... let's not." Dad says.
"Why" mum asks.
"Has 22 years of marriage taught you nothing? When have we intervened in anything and made it better?" Dad asks.
"Lots of times."
"When?"
"You weren't there."
"I'm not having Mr and Mrs Godzilla trampling all over my furniture with their filthy tatoos..."
"Dad." Janey complained as he took her magazine off her.
"...shouting builders' obscenities from years of on-site training."
"I'm sure they'll be civilised."
"No everyone starts off that way."
"Not you."
"When the fir starts to fly the dog always sides with his whelp."
"How do you know?"
"Discovery channel."
"Ben, if you could have seen Michael when he came home today. His little eyes blinking through a layer of dried custard. As much to say, 'Why me, Mummy?' He was the saddest school dinner you ever did see."
"When do you want them round?" Dad asks giving up arguing.
The doorbell rings.
"No!" Dad yells once he realised what Mum did the same as she always does.
"I told them about now." Mum says walking to the door as Dad yells for her to come back.
"Oh, my God. Shouldn't you two rather read that in your rooms." Dad asks me and Janey.
"Nope We'd rather stay here." Janey says.
"This is going to be very, very unpleasant." Dad says.
