"Painty! Painty! Cmon ya slowpoke!"

Patter patter!

"Not my fault that I'm slow Lightbulb!!"

"Huehuehue!! Guess like we know who's faster!!"

"Dang it Lightbulb!! I'm so gonna catch you!!!"

(An hour earlier)
Narrator's POV:

Chopping sounds echoed in the small apartment where Paintbrush and Lightbulb reside. The sound woke Lightbulb from her sleep. She jolts up and sees how her blanket is irregularly placed on her body, despite her sleep kicking habit. Definitely Paintbrush's doing. She pushes the blanket aside and onto her plushies and pillows of all sizes and hops off the bed, noticing how her housemate's bed is so neatly organized.

"Painty must be stirrin up something again!"-Lightbulb thought as she took a shower-"Mmm I hope is oatmeal raisin! Or pancakes, I guess that's cool too."

After taking a fresh shower, Lightbulb shudders by the sudden cold temperature in their shared room. It's winter after all, can't believe their second year is coming to a close. She sneezes and decides to keep her bath robe on. She steps out of the living room and sees a plate of waffles with syrup and berries, along with a cup of hot chocolate.

"Mmm, you always knows how to make my belly tingle Painty."-She laughed to herself and sat down to use her newly made meal.

Just when she's ready to chow down, she remembers something.

"Ohh! Baxter!!"-Lightbulb walked to Baxter's new tank, with sand, water and a good amount of plastic corals. She opened a bottle of fish food and feeds Baxter-"Hehe sorry!! Here's your daily dose of fish food!!"

Baxter gobbles up the food and snaps his claws in content. Lightbulb smiles brightly and sees the picture frame of her dad next to the tank.

"Good morning dad!! Must be another cold winter eh? I'm not very good in the cold buuuuuuut you always said I can't have fun right?"

Her father's bright smile in his frame remained, as if  agreeing. Relieved, Lightbulb grabs the plate of waffles and marvels at its soft texture and the sweet syrup. Then she heard the sound of paper crumbling with a groan of frustration from the veranda.

"Painty!"

Lightbulb opens the veranda slide door with one arm while holding her waffle plate in another and sees her best friend sitting outside, a brush tucked in their hair and is struggling to come up with something to paint. They've been sitting for a while, even when it started to snow. They always sit out here every morning to paint, but this is the first time Lightbulb has seen Paintbrush having an art block.

"Aww Painty, what's wrong?"-Lightbulb asked and squished herself between their canvas and their face-"Need a light?"

"Gah Lightbulb!!!! Your face is too close!!"-Paintbrush yelped and nearly falls backwards on their chair.

"Oopsies!! Lemme help!"-She smiled and helped them up by pulling their arms. Well, more like their paws. Paintbrush has been staying in their half beast form a lot more recently-"Hey PB and J, cute ears!"

"Oh, you noticed? Yeah, I like to show my ears more often lately...it helps me relax, besides painting of course."

Lightbulb finishes her breakfast and goes inside, only to return with her steamy cup of hot chocolate. She walks through the paint supplies and crumbled papers, pulls out another chair in the corner and sits down with her friend. She watches as Paintbrush's ears twitches in frustration from the blank canvas.
