Summer of 2000
Shin,
I wanted to live up to my promises but unfortunately, I haven't been able to fulfil them all but so did you.
You stood there speechless, unable to think about your next move. Of course, you knew that it was you who had set up that deal five years ago because you were sure that both of you would grow separately, living individual lives, but that wasn't the case apparently.
Opening your mouth to speak, Shinichiro immediately interjected, "You don't have to answer me, however, please give me a chance to prove my feelings for you" he said, gazing at your (e/c) orbs.
A wave of nostalgia hits you upon seeing a familiar sight giving you a sense of déjà vu. However, the person standing in front of you wasn't that lip-quivering, knee-shaking freshman who had confessed his love for you underneath the blooming cherry blossom tree during the spring of 1995. The founded charisma was there but it was more refined, maybe because a lot of time has passed already?
"You know what I can't believe?" you began, earning a slightly confused look from him, but you went on, "I can't believe that twenty girls had rejected you," you remarked, recalling what had Wakasa said earlier.
A pink blush scattered across Shinichiro's cheeks; he shyly shifted his eyes away from you "What do you mean?"
You chuckled, "Okay"
He quickly returned his gaze to you, "Wait- Okay what?"
"I'm saying that I'll let you court me, you have my guaranteed 51% but don't underestimate the latter half if you're leaning towards failure" you uttered with an amused smile.
He steps in, closing the gap between the two of you, "I won't fail, I believe me" he grinned. You clasped your hands together, "Alright, since we're doing this, where are you taking me to, Mr. Sano Shinichiro?"
He slowly reaches for your wrist, circling his hand around it, "I promised you a bike ride, didn't I?"
An excited smile grew on your face, "Okay, but you need to drop me off at the uni after? I still have a lot of stuff to finish". In the first place, Med school work was never-ending anyway-- making the term 'free time' almost non-existent.
"That won't be a problem."
Just at the leftmost parking space of Anzu's snack bar was his parked CB250T. Taking the helmet hanging on the bike's handle, Shinichiro gently placed it on top of your head and secured it by buckling the straps under your chin.
"Safety first" he uttered with a closed-lip smile.
"Thanks"
He mounted the motorbike first, then you followed. After you were settled, he kicked the motor stand and inserted the keys in the ignition. A low, satisfying thrum was heard.
