Summer of 2003
To my little infinity,
Our forever was short but may the heavens permit that it'll be longer the the next time we meet.
After Takeomi had called you outside of your dorms, you found yourself quietly sitting at the backseat of his motorbike driving you to who knows where. You had no idea where he was taking you as he had only told you to follow him. The somber and the subtle glint of fear in his eyes was enough to convince you to go with him-- no questions asked.
During the ride, none of you exchanged any words. Nothing but the sound of the vehicle's engine and the fast wild wind that temporarily deafened your ears could only be heard. It was an awkward and somehow agonizing wait for both of you.
There were questions that you wanted to ask the scar-faced man but never left your lips. You didn't know why you didn't want to delve deeper into that.
"We're here," Taekomi uttered, finally breaking the silence, as he gradually squeezed the rakes of his vehicle, slowly decelerating in front of a very familiar building.
You climbed down and stared at the ten-story-tall government establishment. A smile slowly cracked on your face as all your worries had dissipated, leaving your head and heart light.
You sent a quick glare to the man beside you. Hitting him lightly on the arm, you knitted your brows at him, "God, Takeomi, you sounded so nervous earlier, I thought something bad had happened!"
You shook your head and returned your gaze to the building in front of you. Looking at it just hit you with a great wave of nostalgia.
This was the very place where you finally said yes to your beloved Sano Shinichiro. The place of sunrises—great and lovely beginnings.
When was the last time that you had come to this place? you wondered as if it felt like it was already a long time ago.
The man beside you smiled crookedly and avoided your gaze. "Sorry, you just sounded angry on the phone earlier. (L/n), you scare me sometimes. I didn't want to try my luck and accidentally push the wrong buttons."
Well, of course, who wouldn't be angry after disturbing their peaceful slumber? -- was what you wanted to say but curiosity, as to why you were here, won over the urge to make a sarcastic remark.
Rolling your eyes at him, you folded your arms to your chest. "Anyway, what's Shin up to now?" you raised a brow.
He gestured his hand towards the building, "Well, there's only one way to find out Miss (L/n). He's currently on the rooftop waiting for you."
"Alright. Thanks for bringing me here, Akashi. Talk to you again soon." He only nodded his head and waved goodbye, while you went your way towards the establishment.
