Fall of 2000
Dear Shinichiro,
Remember that day I told you that I'd go anywhere with you? I'm sorry that I couldn't be there with you right now.
But someday, I will certainly reunite with you my love.
"(Y/n)?" Your roommate's groggy voice echoed in your shared space followed by a satisfying 'click' sound of her bedside lamp-- illuminating the other half of the room.
"It's like- five in the morning, why the fuck are you up already?" she added, rubbing her tired and heavy hazel eyes.
You looked up from the folded clothes on your bed to your roommate, flashing her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I forgot to pack last night. Was I too loud?" you asked. She must've been woken up by the sound of the creaking cabinet hinges and the thudding drawers.
You tried to be as quiet as possible since your roommate was getting back her lost hours of sleep (because finally, final exams were done, and med students can finally relax for a bit). However, since she was a light sleeper like you, she can easily be woken up by the slightest noise. Thus, the occurrence of this scenario.
"Yeah, a bit. You're going home right after exams?" she yawned.
"Ah- sorry." you briefly apologized before going on, "I'm going to Kyoto, remember?"
Pausing for a bit, she displayed a knowing expression on her face after a few seconds of pondering.
"Oh right, you're going with Sano. Now I remember. By the way, it's a two-night trip, isn't it?" she asked before standing up to walk to her drawer, pulling out a small box.
"Yeah, I wonder if I packed enough clothes though. I haven't done the laundry since last week-" you cut yourself off after an unknown item was handed to you.
"Here, you might need these," Yae offered nonchalantly.
Studying the item closely, your cheeks burned red, "Y-yae!"
She raised a brow and crossed her arms on her chest, "What? You two are going to a mountain resort for two nights. And most probably you'd be sleeping in the same room as him. I just want to make sure that my roomie is safe, that's all."
Cheeks still red, you averted your gaze away from her and packed the last of your clothes inside your back. "Just put that away, please. I'm going to get my toothbrush from the bathroom" you said, walking out of your room.
Yae watched you disappear from her sight before quickly putting the small box inside of your bag, burying it in your pile of clothes. She smiled in satisfaction before going back to bed.
