"3,700 years ago it burst forth, the mysterious petrification ray that struck all of humanity."
"If it were some kind of an attack by someone, if they were to use it again they'd finish us off for good this time." Senku exclaimed,
"Then before that can happen, we need to solve the mystery. And on top of that, if we reverse engineer it we can use it to heal Tsukasa. With the new science of the petrification ray... we will surpass our former civilization! We'll seek the source of where the light originated, the other side of the Earth!"

"...what?"

"Starting now, we're going to build a boat!"
I swallowed, watching as the villagers perked up with pride finally understanding something that Senku wanted to build. But when I thought of a boat that would take Senku across the ocean to America, it was a lot more than anything the villagers have probably even thought of needing before.
"How about we all draw out our ideas and pick out the best one? How does that sound? Hm?" Gen suggested, a creepy smirk on his face as Magma started yelling about how he already had the win anyways, stomping off to make his blue print, or whatever.
"Gen... you're leading them on." I poked his side lightly, and he chuckled.
"So? It's fun. Look at them, naïve. Let them enjoy thinking they've got the upper hand for once."
Yeah, but what's the point if Senku's just going to crush their pride again?
"Rina!"
I jumped slightly, taking hold of Gen's hoari with my fingers as I looked back to Senku.
"Come here. I need your help with the drawing!"
"Okay."
I let go of Gen, and just as I turned completely he grabbed my hand again, "Do your best, okay? I'm rooting for you."
A smile wavered onto my face, because he was really just a big dork, "Yeah, I know."

We took the rest of the day, and much of the night, to complete the show and tell project just so that Senku could resume instruction of the construction of the boat like he would have if we didn't do all of this in the first place. But I guess, something fun like this was in order.
Once the stars were covering the dark sky again, and Senku caught me staring at them, he threw a rock at Gen and told him to take me back to bed.
"You didn't have to hit me." I heard the male pout, and I turned from the sky to look at him, his face brightened only by the fire beside him, and Senku and Chrome were too deep in finishing their model to care.
"Rina. Are you tired?" Gen asked as he caught my eyes.
I wasn't, "Yeah."
"Alright then." He smiled, and I wondered if he knew I was lying, "I'll walk you back."

The walk was silent for the most part, but I didn't feel the need to start any conversation. His hands were tucked in his sleeves as usual, and I carefully held my hands out as I stepped over roots and rocks.
"Hey, Rina..."
I blinked, stopping to look back at him, my left hand resting on the tree beside me, "Yes?"
"I really do like you."
I blushed and smiled, "I know."
"I mean it. I'll tell you everyday until you get sick of it."
"I believe you, Gen. You don't have to go to such extremes." I stepped down from the tree root and placed my hands on his as he moved to meet my eyes, "I'm not that sad anymore that I need that kind of reassurance. I like you too, so don't worry."
"How can you tell I'm worried?"
"I just can." I giggled, "You're more obvious when you're alone and relaxed."
His hands poked out of his sleeves and he grabbed mine in his tightly. Lowering his head, I tensed as he kissed my knuckles slowly. He wasn't worried just for me, that I might not really like him back, or that I was still wavering on that suicidal line. He was worried about this boat expedition Senku was planning. Despite the day of fun, someone like Gen who thinks a lot like me would have been worrying about it from the beginning.
Over seas travel is dangerous, and none of us were any trained. We didn't know what the oceans were like, how they might have changed after all this time.
"Gen."
"I know. Shall we sleep together?"
Eh?
Oh.

"Y-Yeah. I'd like that."
He suddenly smirked.
"Don't!" I quickly said, "Let's hurry! I'm tired!"
