Lindsay looked at Faith as they reached the school grounds. "Excited for school?"
Faith nodded. "Yes."
The closer they got the school, the faster Lindsay's heart thumped against her chest. Nick was at the school. She wanted to see him but she feared his response after the phone call last night. Like a brazen hussy she touched herself, made herself come. With only his voice, an amazing compilation of erotic words designed to incite her lust. She feared her voice would carry outside her room giving her an excuse not to participate. She wasn't ready to take part yet. He likely knew, Nick read her like a favorite book.
She knew it was her own self-judgment that made her cringe. All she worried about from Nick was wanting more. He'd accept if she said no. She didn't want to say no, but saying yes to him crushed all her boundaries keeping her in her comfort zone.
He promised next time they were together he'd make her moan. Surely he didn't mean her morning stop by his classroom.
Several children cried Faith's name from the playground and ran toward them. Faith barely said good-bye before running off to meet her new friends.
Lindsay pulled out her phone as she entered the building to send a text to Nick. Finding him in his classroom yesterday was pure luck. She wasn't keen on searching for him. If someone saw them in the hall... that's how rumors started.
She used the door closest to Nick's room. He was leaning on the front of his desk sipping from a mug, staring at the entrance. He straightened when his eyes landed on her. A smile crossed his face, changing him from handsome to sexy. Her heart picked up and she looked at the floor as last night flooded her.
"Come here, sugar."
She walked toward him, stopping at arm's length. Another teacher or a student could walk in and she didn't want to be found in an intimate embrace. Rumors would fly and she'd be the center of talk once more. "Good morning."
He grabbed her hand. "Are you embarrassed about last night?"
"No... but." Lindsay looked at where his hands gripped hers. His fingers were long and strong.
"But nothing, sugar. Did you enjoy yourself?"
"Yes. But it was so much. I don't want you to see me differently."
"You are a whole woman, part of you is sexual."
She understood, but she didn't know how to integrate the knowledge with years of hearing otherwise "I realize. I'm trying."
Nick brushed two fingers over her cheek. "I'm only reminding you."
Oh. He wasn't upset with her. This was Nick. She looked into his compassionate eyes, which held a hint of want. "I'm sorry. I have trouble."
"It's okay, Lindsay. You are changing, I want to be there with you. But not change everything about you."
She licked her lips. "I appreciate the time we've spent together and your patience with me. I feel like a different person."
Nick used her hand to pulled her until they were inches apart. "Can I kiss you where we might be caught?"
"Yes." Even if they might get caught, even if rumors may fly, she wanted his warmth.
The kiss was swift and sweet and warm. It filled her heart. He relaxed his hand and she stepped back to arm's length. She glanced at him with her bottom lip between her teeth. She was young again with him. With Kevin, she'd felt old, older than she was. With her parents, she felt like a wayward child who needed guiding. Nick accepted her but also challenged her.
