Rey asked Taani over the Bluetooth attached to his ear, while his fingers were tapping on his laptop furiously, completing his office work. It was night time and as usual he was in his room talking to her after she was done with her chores for the day. It was their routine to discuss their day's happenings with the other.

He heard her tired voice from the other side,
"Kuch bhi nahi, bas lying down and resting."
He frowned and asked her,
"Why are you sounding so tired? Kya hua?"
Taani bit her tongue knowing he caught her gloominess in her voice. She was trying hard to hide it from him, knowing he would get angry again so she asked,
"Nothing, aap bataiye aap kya kar rahe hai?"
Rey pursed his lips and said sternly,
"Taani, hazaar baar kaha hai mujhse kuch chupaya mat karo, tell me what happened? Firse ghar ke sare kaam kiye kya?"
She closed her eyes not knowing how to reply to him, he was right actually. Her mother made her do all the work today on the prospect that she should do all household chores perfectly because soon she would be married off. Though she knew herself it was just a pretext because Taani was good with all the chores and did them perfectly. It was one of the other ways of her mother trying to torture Taani because nowadays she can't do much due to Rey and the Singhanias. So she comes up with these petty ideas to convert last days of Taani in their house a hell. She would ask Taani to take care of the garden, to clean the whole house not leaving a single stain, whenever she would try to rest would come up with different works or even just spill something or the other so that Taani would have to clean it. In short, she was being the monster she actually is. Taani sighed saying,
