Astrid was in a foul mood. While she didn't hate planes, she did hate the destination. Exiled from the Palace, and Sweden as a whole, Astrid was on her way to her new home; Pine Hill Academy for the Misguided and Troubled. The Princess knew that was just a fancy name for the preppy, troubled rich kids school her guardians, the king and queen of Sweden, were forcing her to attend, and Astrid wasn't about to pretend that she was excited about this new chapter in her life.

She followed the headmistress through the empty dorm hallways, before knocking on the door of room number 14. Before they had reached their destination, however, Astrid had heard a series of knocking following them as she and the headmistress walked the length of the corridor. She wondered what that was about, but didn't bother asking; it was probably a one off thing.

A girl with straightened blonde hair answered the door - as she did, her previously smiling expression quickly faded to one of confusion and slight anger. "Headmistress?" The girl asked, in a sharp, defined American accent. Astrid had been informed when she had landed that she would be sharing a dorm with another student at the boarding school, but she hadn't expected her to be so pretty.

It was going to be really hard to hate her, Astrid thought to herself.

"Jasmine, this is the new student I was telling you about. Her Royal Highness, Princess Astrid Henstridge of Sweden". The Headmistress introduced, as Astrid stepped forward with her hand outstretched.

"Astrid is completely fine," She clarified, as Jasmine pointedly ignored her offer for peace. Instead, the blonde girl crossed her arms and looked to her headmistress.

"My parents paid good money for me to have a single room," Jasmine argued, "I thought you were telling me about her," She jerked her head in Astrid's direction, "Because you wanted me to show her around or something. I didn't agree to this, Headmistress".

The Headmistress did not look pleased, and Astrid knew why; even though she was a foreigner, nobody liked to be insulted in front of royalty. "Jasmine, you and the Princess will be sharing. You will show her to her classes for the first couple days, until she has found her footing. You will be polite," She said pointedly, "Or else I will be forced to phone your parents and discuss this discrepancy. We wouldn't want that, now would we?"

Jasmine pursed her lips but said nothing in reply. Instead, she moved from the doorway to allow Astrid room to come inside. Astrid placed her bags down on the empty bed on the left side of the room, as the Headmistress said, "Well, I'll leave you two to get acquainted. Jasmine, be nice," She warned, before closing the door behind herself. The headmistress's footsteps echoed back down the hall.

As the headmistress was leaving, Jasmine moved to her bed, before knocking on the wall four times. Afterwards, she moved to where Astrid stood, climbed onto Astrid's bed and knocked on the wall four times. "What are you doing?" Ash asked curiously. The knocking appeared to be a regular thing.

"Headmistress is gone, I was letting everyone know," Jasmine said nonchalantly, "Four knocks means in the clear; three knocks means either the headmistress or housemistress is coming. Two knocks are bed checks and five knocks are cops".

"That's cool...that you have a system, I mean. Let everyone know what's going on," Astrid said, trying to make conversation.

"What did you do to get in here?" Jasmine asked automatically, not bothering to comment on Astrid's previous statement.

Astrid narrowed her eyes at the question. "Just...fucked up one to many times. There's no room for error in the royal family, you know". Jasmine nodded, seeming almost impressed.

"There's a party tonight, it's going to be wild. You should come - let us troubled kids show you a good time," Jasmine suggested, her tone light and joking.

"Sounds fun," Astrid answered, "I'll be there".

And it did sound fun. Astrid had envisioned strict rules and shitty, sad rich kids. But Jasmine seemed almost normal.

Maybe Pine Hill wasn't going to be so terrible after all.
