Speculation to where Astrid had disappeared too was now the main focus throughout the media, and sometimes even on the news. Wilhelm had deliberately avoided all questions revolving around or even hinting at Astrid's disappearance (Wilhelm knew his parents believed he had helped her escape, despite this being as far from the truth as humanly possible).

Because of his deliberate attempts to avoid his parents' questions, he was mostly dipping when it came to dinners and breakfasts. He avoided royal meetings and gatherings as though they were the plague, and had been mostly sleeping at Simon's house - it was easier that way.

Despite this, Wilhelm found himself, and Simon, in the palace a couple weeks after everything had gone down. They had snuck past security - Malin had gotten them in undetected - and the two boys found themselves hiding out in Wilhelm's room, behind closed doors.

It was the second time Simon had visited the palace, the second time he had been inside Wilhelm's room. The young Prince couldn't help but smile at every little gasp Simon made upon finding something else he found exciting in Wilhelm's room. "I don't understand what you find so fascinating," Wilhelm commented, as Simon's eyes widened over the secret bathroom which had been disclosed behind on a false wall. "It's just a room".

"Your bedroom is better than my entire house," Simon said matter-of-factly, "And that's excluding this bathroom," He closed the door slowly, before heading over to where Wilhelm sat on the bed.

"I don't think that's true," Wilhelm replied, as Simon made a face. "Is it?" He asked, more unsurely now.

Simon leaped onto the bed, landing on his side; his head was propped up against his arm, his body spread across the bed while Wilhelm sat elegantly against the pillows which were piled up against the headboard, his legs crossed beneath himself. "It is definitely bigger," Simon confirmed.

A smile broke out on Wilhelm's face, and the boy couldn't help but lean forward and plant a kiss on Simon's lips. Rolling backwards so he was now on his back, Simon intertwined his fingers in the Prince's hair, as Wilhelm stretched his hand across the mattress, to steady himself above Simon.

The two boys didn't get far, however, as the doors to Wilhelm's room burst open, with Queen Kristen waltzing inside. Simon and Wilhelm ripped away from each other, Simon keeping his head turned from the Queen.

"Mum," Wilhelm addressed, his lips red and his hair a complete mess. His eyes flickered between his mother, who stood in the doorway disapprovingly, and Simon, who was still laying on the bed, biting his lip nervously. Both boys had to contain their laughter

"Your father and I need to speak with you, Wilhelm, so if you could ask your...friend to leave, we can get on with business," The Queen spoke clearly, though she hesitated momentarily. Simon bowed his head closer to the mattress, but Wilhelm had allowed his family to disrespect Simon enough.

"Do you have an issue with Simon being here?" Wilhelm asked, knowing he was deliberately baiting his mother, but past the point of caring.

"Yes," The Queen replied icily.

"Why?"

"This is a family matter, Wilhelm," her voice was becoming harsher, firmer. Do as I say, she was saying silently; Wilhelm could see the message in her eyes.

"Yup. And Simon is family, so he can stay," Wilhelm replied, "You know, because he's my boyfriend and all that".

"I can just go," Simon whispered, quiet enough so that Wilhelm could hear, but the Queen couldn't. Wilhelm stretched his hand out, taking Simon's into his own and squeezing it reassuringly.

"If whatever you wish to discuss cannot be discussed in front of Simon, that it will have to wait," Wilhelm said steadily, "So, and I mean this in all respect mother, either start talking or please get out of my room. We were kind of in the middle of something".

The Queen was absolutely outraged; Simon was slightly afraid of his boyfriend. But, it appeared the Queen wasn't about to pick a fight in front of a civilian. She left without another word. All it took was the boys making eye contact to send them into a spiral of laughter. They collapsed onto the bed, limbs tangled together and emotions running sky high. They didn't quiet down until the early hours of the next morning.
