I walked down the farmhouse hallway, now holding Thea on my hip. Thea played with my brown hair as I walked closer to the room Daryl was in. She always loved playing with my hair, braiding it and such. I smiled as I glanced down at her tiny fingers slowly braiding my hair. It wasn't a perfect braid but it was pretty darn good for a four year old. As I walked closer I could hear conversation coming from Daryl's room, it was Carol.

Carol: you did more for that little girl today than her father did his whole life..

I heard Daryl's raspy southern drawl interrupt carols soft voice right before I walked into the room.

Daryl: that's not my little girl..

I walked in the room just as Carol planted a kiss on Daryl's forehead. I stood in the doorway, jealousy taking over my body immediately. She adoringly looked down at him and that just made me angry. I gently set Thea down, next to me.

Danielle: be careful, but go see daddy. He missed you.

Thea smiled and ran over to the side of the bed, her blonde curls bouncing in the process. Carol stepped out of her way and looked toward me, with a blank stare.

Thea: daddy!!

I kept my eyes on Carol, and squinted my eyes slightly. Letting her know daryl was mine was crucial. I could tell she liked him, that was obvious. But he was mine. He always has been and always will be. I smirked at Carol as she made her way out of the room. Thea's loud giggle interrupted my thoughts and I looked over to see her laying next to daryl in the bed. It was absolutely adorable, I put my hand over my mouth in awe, and slowly made my way over to them.

*******5 hours later********

Danielle: well she sure has a thing for you

I spoke in distaste referring to Carol, who had just brought daryl a glass of water. Daryl chuckled and I crossed my arms in jealousy. I looked out the window for a moment, and smiled at the sight. There was a young blonde girl, Beth, she had taken Thea outside to see her horses. Thea was all about animals so she was enjoying every second of it, which was clear through her facial expressions. I felt Daryl's warm rough hand on my bare thigh, distracting me from my thoughts. I still sat on the chair beside his bed, not wanting to hurt him anymore than he was. I was still upset about carols relentless gestures, so I didn't make eye contact.

Daryl: dani

His southern drawl made me melt, but I needed to make my point. It really upset me to see another woman ogling over my man, and him do nothing about it. I heard the bed creek and shortly after, I felt Daryl's warm, firm arms wrap around my small body. He rested his head on my shoulder, breathing on my left ear heavily. He kissed my cheek lightly and moved my hair to the right side. Suddenly he stopped, and pulled back.

Daryl: what the f*ck is this from?!

His voice was harsh and caused me to jump in my seat. The memory of what had happened earlier in the day flooded my brain. Shane. I stood up from my chair and faced daryl who was sitting on the side of the bed. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his lips quickly. He surprisingly didn't reject me but knowing I had to tell daryl what happened, I pulled apart. And with tears in my eyes, i began to explain to Daryl.

Danielle: Shane....

As soon as the first word escaped my lips, I began to cry uncontrollably. I felt bad for Daryl, this was going to kill him and I knew he would blame himself. Daryl continued to sit on the edge of the bed and pulled me into him, he knew there was more to the story.

Daryl: dani....

I took a deep breath and looked daryl in the eyes. He looked like hell after the accident yet I was still so attracted to him. I knew he was getting impatient and I had to tell him. I locked eyes with him, my arms around his neck, his arms around my waist. I felt safe. And ready to tell him.
