We shared one last kiss and I pulled away, smiling uncontrollably. This world was hell and we had our problems but I couldn't be happier. Daryl held my hands in his, slowly running his thumb over the ring he had just given me. He sighed and regret filled his eyes.
Daryl: mm' put that ring in there 6 years ago dani. I knew ya were my girl, I jus' knew. An I was going to ask you to marry me... That nigh', I was gon' take ya huntin' when we got home and thas' why the ring was in my bow. I never took it out after that. I left it as a memory that what I did was good for ya. An even though it killed me.... I jus' wanted better for you...
He trailed off and I could tell he was feeling guilty. But none of that mattered now. We were together and we had our babygirl. I gently pressed my lips to his for a moment, slowly running my hands up his bare back. I gently scratched his back with my nails causing daryl to growl in the back of his throat. Oh things I wanted to do to him right now. I can't even begin to express how much I love this man. Daryl pulled away breathlessly and I whispered seductively in his ear.
Danielle: just call me Dani Dixon.
Daryl looked at the ground searching for words, he seemed uneasy. I placed my hands on his waist. Being extra careful for the bandage where one of his arrows had went through him when he fell.
Daryl: --I know ya always wanted a nice wedding dani but--
He thought I wanted a real wedding but as far as I was concerned we were already married. I didn't care to have a ceremony or celebration. In this world, you can't have certain things, but I have everything I need.
Danielle: --not in this world baby..
Daryl smirked in agreement and I looked down at my gorgeous ring again. I heard a small cough from the doorway and both daryl and I turned to look over. There stood Maggie in the doorway, she had her arms casually crossed as she leaned up against the doorframe. She smiled and I was wondering how much she had heard. She shrugged her shoulders and half smiled.
Maggie: my daddy.... He can marry you guys.. If you'd like
I looked back at daryl for an answer, but he was looking at me the same way. I mean, I guess that'd make it more official. And give us something to remember but I had a feeling the whole group wouldn't support this anyways. I mean Carol was hardcore crushing on daryl and Shane attacked me today. Not to mention daryl was still healing. His head had finally stopped bleeding where the bullet grazed him. But he could hardly walk with the pain in his side. The arrow went the whole way through, sure he was tough, but that is not something you recover from quickly. We were both unsure so I simply flashed Maggie a smile.
Danielle: thank you for the offer..
Maggie walked into the room and gave me an uneasy smile. She got a worried look on her face and I watched as she tried to control herself. She nervously played with the hem of her shirt, something wasn't right.
Maggie: did uhm.. Glenn tell you guys anything?
Even with her thick southern drawl, you could hear the uneasiness in her voice. Glenn? What's there to tell. Maggie was deeply trying to hide something, that was obvious. Daryl looked at me with a slightly concerned face and then spoke to Maggie with his harsh raspy voice.
Daryl: what's there to tell..
Maggie looked out the window and then back at daryl. She let out a nervous laugh and quickly changed the subject.
Maggie: you know, you really should be resting--
Daryl harshly interrupted her. He knew something wasn't right, I didn't blame him. I squeezed his hand as a signal to be nicer, after all these people were letting us stay on their property.
